I loved this movie when i first saw it back in the early 80's when i was between 5 and 10 years old the i hadn't seen it for about 15 years when a friend of mine rented it (don't ask me how he found it). I had to be about 25 when saw it again and let me tell you, this is one of the worst movies ever made, terrible in every facet. Even the dialog is off sync to the actors lips AND EVERYONE IS SPEAKING English!! My friends and I couldn't even sit through the whole movie. It really ruined a nice childhood memory for me. If you're like me and enjoyed it when you were a kid and want to see it again...DON'T. Trust me on this. Cherish the memory you have of it.
... View Moreconsider myself a snobbish shaman when it comes to filmy knowledge. When I speak on motion pictures, the words flow from my body as if medicines and elixirs intoxicated me. Be it the opus Zapped! or the classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space, I pride myself on bringing to illumination the forgotten masterpieces of cinema. I bark obscure film knowledge. That is why I am praising the likes of one of the top ten most overlooked films of the early 1980s: Super Fuzz aka Super Snooper aka Poliziotto superpiù.This comedy, live action, sci-fi/fantasy and action/adventure film even made it to my coveted top 25 Movie Moments list: 19.) The super powers of Officer Dave Speed Dave becomes able to move objects with the mind force, discover mysterious crimes, jump with no problem from a skyscraper and blow a massively huge bubble from one piece of gum to save he and his friends from a sunken ship. Like most heroes, there is a weakness the color red. (Super Fuzz, 1980)This film was a force on late night HBO during my hazy childhood. It played everyday and night. I recorded it on VHS and watched it religiously along with the above-mentioned Zapped! Super Fuzz was a superhero like no other. Behold his powers! He makes all the people in the Orange Bowl (tens of thousands of people!) disappear into the unknown reaches of time and space with but a thought! The physics and theories behind these mind force powers have serious implications and are staggering. I only aspire to have such mind force powers.I recently acquired a mint condition vinyl recording of the film's catchy and amazingly plentiful disco theme song 'Super Snooper' by The Oceans:'He's a super-snooper, Really super-trooper!'That Ernest Borgnine made the film even better as Sgt. Willy Dunlop. It is mandatory viewing for any serious student of film. 'Super, Super!'Cast:Terence Hill as Dave Speed, Ernest Borgnine as Sgt. Willy Dunlop, Joanne Dru as Rosy Labouche, Marc Lawrence as Torpedo, Julie Gordon as EvelynSergio Corbucci directed Super Fuzz.
... View More"Superfuzz": I saw this film when it came out in theaters thanks to seeing the ad for it on TV. The idea of a cop with super powers due to a nuclear accident sounded cool and what I saw in the commercials appeared funny. Being 13 then,it looked like it would be a really fun film. Back then,it was. I was actually able to see it on video just a few short years ago and I realized,I was only laughing at things someone 13 or younger would laugh at. I also (when I saw it on video) kind of felt sorry for Ernest Borgnine having to be in such a sub-standard film. This was the same man who did a fabulous lead acting job in the 1955 film "Marty". Poor Ernest! As for the rest of the cast and the film itself, the cast does an adequate job and the Italian actor in the lead role...yes,his voice is dubbed in English as well as the others. I didn't notice that until the second viewing. Overall,if absurdity, silliness and Gilligan's Island type super-speedy film comedy is your thing, then by all means, get this movie. If you want to see a great example of the non-sense some movie makers tried to pass off as entertainment in the late 70s & early 80s,again,get this movie.05/13/2017 (EDIT) - I found a copy of this film at Ebay and decided to give it another look all these years later. I actually found more of it funny than I did on the first re-watch in the early 90s. Some things I found stupid before weren't anymore and whatever still was, most likely always will be. Just the same , I'm uping my rating from 4 stars to 6. It's a good comedy to watch if you're in the mood for super-silly. (End)
... View MoreThis was an HBO classic that I first saw when I was about 7 years old back in 1985. I loved the concept of a super powered cop at the time, and the name, Super Fuzz, was just really cool sounding to a 7 year old boy. I remember pretending to be Super Fuzz and when I saw red I would fall down just like the famous chase scene. This is great for what it is, a ridiculous cop B-movie that apparently kids from the eighties who had HBO will love and have fond memories from. However, the acting is horrible, and the story is barely there. In the end, prepare to be disappointed and have a small chunk of your childhood ruined. I re-watched it and realized I ruined the innocence of that 7 year old boy. Do yourself a favor. Don't re-watch it if you liked it once upon a time, and if you are just now watching it, then you probably are going to hate it, especially if you were born after 1982. Good Luck!
