On one hand, I can understand why there are probably a lot of people who wouldn't like this movie. There's barely a plot here, for one thing. It takes forever for the central conflict to kick in, and when it does start, it goes very slowly. In fact, I think the movie could be edited down to fit a one hour time slot with commercials. Also, the characters are at times very stupid. I know this is supposed to be a comedy, but some viewers will be groaning at characters not using common sense. The movie also looks cheap, with simple special effects and other low budget production values.I'll admit all the above... yet at the same time, I found the movie to be surprisingly likable. It helps that they cast a couple of good leads. Hill and Borgnine both have a lot of charm and talent with comedy, and they shine and bring in a smile whenever they are on screen. There is also some amusing slapstick that only the Italians seem to know how to bring on film. And even the at times desperateness the filmmakers had with their low budget (such as showing stock footage of an atomic explosion - upside down!) will be funny to many viewers. If you like the other comic movies of Terence Hill, chances are you'll be charmed by this one despite its many shortcomings.

I remember first watching this film way back when it was in heavy rotation on HBO in the early 80s. This was long before I discovered Terence Hill's Spaghetti Westerns like My Name Is Nobody and his Trinity films. I certainly didn't know anything about Sergio Corbucci's impressive body of work. What I did know was that Terence Hill and Ernest Borgnine made for a lot of laughs. The film was never meant to be taken seriously. That should be obvious from the title alone. It's a parody. It's slapstick. It's fun.If you're not into that sort of thing you probably won't like the film. Of course, if you're not into that sort of thing I don't know why you'd be watching a film called Super Fuzz to begin with. If you have a sense of humor and enjoy films like Police Academy and Trinity, you'll probably enjoy Super Fuzz.

One thing is for certain: As long there is an Italian flick, set in 70's/80's Miami and starring either Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer, or just Terrence Hill as a cop, you can be sure to witness brilliance.Well, as long as you view the German language version, which is full of wonderful flat catch phrases. The special effects are poor, and the fight scenes are anything but impressively choreographed (the move repertoire of Terrence and Bud pretty much just contains slaps and headnuts), but it's just that simple manliness of those two that makes your heart laugh.Terrence Hill sits in the death row at the beginning of the movie, shoveling read beans into his mouth as his last dish. The only thing he wants is just more beans, and he is making some jokes about the people who are terribly concerned about him being given his death penalty in just minutes.I mean, this might sound stupid when you read it, but you just have to see it. It's childish (I just to first see those movies when I was about 6 years old or so, and I still enjoy the simple charm those movies have), it's silly, it's an hour and a half funny talking and trashy, but amusing slapstick. And mind the brilliant score! It's 70's Italo-Disco-Sound at it's best, all so wonderful trashy it gives you a big grin just when you hear the theme... "Suuuuper Snoooopeeeeer..."Wow.

Worth watching for the dubbing, acting, music, and possibly the most hilarious special effects you will ever see. Is it pure comedy, or is it ALL just terrible? You'll have fun deciding.I especially liked the "underwater" scene where the sweat was beading off Ernest Borgnine's forehead as he floated to the surface with Super Fuzz on the giant bubble. Now that's comedy. Enjoy!
