At first, I saw this movie just because I like the face of Jakub Gierszal(Dominik). But after finish this film, I found this movie meaningful. This movie is the director,Jan Komasa's first long film product ,although it's his first one but it was a great shot and amazed lots of people. In my opinion, there are some aspects that I think the director wants to tell us by this film. First, internet impact. People now, not only teenagers but some adults are addicted to it. Second, the lack of parents concern, it might caused the dead of Dominik. If they found what's the problem of him, the misery may not have occurred.

There's a lot going for this film. It's well directed and has a certain style. The animation sequences are quite beautiful, and the film's music soundtrack is very good. However the film's bleakness and the lack of sympathy I felt towards the main characters ruined the overall appreciation of the film. The four leads, Dominik, his parents, Beata and Andrzej, and Sylwia, are all horrible, selfish, people.Dominik is a spoilt brat, an only child, spoon fed in life he childishly throws tantrums when he doesn't get his own way.He is soon led into a world of madness by Sylwia, an immature and mentally unstable girl, who thinks the world revolves around her and her suicidal thoughts.Beata and Andrzej are too wrapped up in their work to be good and attentive parents, and when they're not cheating on each other and finally realise Dominik need help, their rudeness to the psychiatrists who offer their services is appalling. When you have a film which serves up such unappealing characters there is no emotional investment, I really couldn't care if they all lived or died.Having said that, I will watch out for director Jan Komasa's next film, he shows great promise.

I want to write here first and foremost that I did check that this contains spoilers, so please please please don't read this if you haven't seen this amazing Polish masterpiece yet.As an agoraphobic and very suicidal young adult I could very much relate to this movie, it had me shaking and in tears within the first ten minutes. The way this story is written, following Domonik as he struggles with his sexuality and bullying, is just beautiful from every aspect. It opens your mind and isn't afraid to dig down deep into your emotions and pull them to the surface. The SADDEST part I found to this movie by far was the ending, not because of his suicide (yes, it was very sad) but the terms OF his suicide. I'll admit that I've done almost the exact same thing he did, I sat on my bed one night while my mom was gone at her BFs, drank a beer, and swallowed eight pill bottles worth of anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, and other miscellaneous prescriptions of mine. And I'll tell you that the last memory I have of that is literally chugging away the pills, I have no memory of anything from that night. So after Domonik had swallowed those pills sitting on the toilet, he would not have remembered those "funny drunk" moments he had, he wouldn't remember crying and begging for someone to call his parents. Hell, he wouldn't have even had that vision of going out and dancing with the pink haired girl. He would have died, with his last memory sitting on a dirty toilet, alone.

Suicide room follows Dominik, the son of a Minister and AD Executive for a large bank neglected by his career driven parents, struggling with sexuality and in the grips of mental illness, the story twists and turns through predictable yet shocking and moving turns as Dominik withdraws more and more from the real world and becomes entrenched in a sick love affair with a woman intent on killing herself. The acting from Jakub Gierszal and Roma Gasiorowska is outstanding throughout providing almost disturbingly realistic mental breakdowns and clashes with the real world. To me the scene that stands out is when Dominik's father disconnects the internet and the 2 minutes of aftermath that follow that really show off Jakub Gierszal's acting ability and gripping you in a sense of saddened awe that i haven't felt with other films.A must watch as long as you are stable, it made me a bit mental
