Rating is always been debatable starting from censor certificate to IMDb. In my opinion this title in review is highly under-rated. This is completely an edge of seat suspense thriller. Story is full of twists and very entertaining. I am in no position to discuss direction as director is considered authority in his field. Many people will criticize that story in unrealistic and this thing is not possible in real world then I say to them if you want reality look around you. If you want some thing beyond reality then go to cinema.Few words on film, Its highly entertaining. Every scene and every dialogue matters. It will keep you guessing and its my challenge that how intelligent you are or you have read and seen many mystery thriller, still you won't be able to guess the end correctly. If you don't believe me, then try it yourself. You will not be disappointed.I've given it 8 because of God father otherwise only for mystery genre this movie deserves 9.5

Pretty clever mystery that will leave you gasping when the shocking twist is revealed. Tightly woven together, Wolfgang Peterson delivers a smart story about Dan Merrick, a San Francisco businessman who can't remember his past after surviving a horrific car crash. While recovering at his lovely secluded home, Dan discovers his adoring wife Judith, played by Greta Scacchi, is cheating with another man. Dan sets forth to discover that all is not what is seems to be. Bob Hoskins as Gus, the pet shop owner / part time private eye, gives a wonderful performance as well as Joanne Whalley, who knows much more than she ever wanted to know about Dan. Slick scoring by Alan Silvestri, knock out sets, and direction make this mystery / thriller a winner!

About fifteen minutes into this movie you realize that it's not going to be very satisfying. The action develops very clumsily, as a man recovering from a serious accident is gradually eased into his life. This life seems to consist of a loving wife, two friends, an office, and a hotel, i.e., just the items necessary to move the plot along. If I were in the position this guy is in, I would be suffering from claustrophobia.Naturally, our hero has "psychogenic amnesia," an ailment so rare in real life that many experts doubt it exists at all. Nothing I say will get novelists and directors to lay off this stuff, but I will register a protest anyway. It's more likely for a person in an auto accident to grow a second head than to wake up not remembering any details of his life while all his other faculties are intact. So let's have more second-head films! Meanwhile, back to the movie in question. It's clear right away that things are not what they seem, but as we find out the truth it gets less and less plausible. The worst plot hole is (avoiding spoiler here) that Character 1 helps Character 2 dispose of a body, then demands that they take the matter to the police! No one in their right mind would cheerfully become an accomplice to the original crime and add a few new ones _before_ it occurs to them to call the cops. The only good part of the movie was Greta Scacchi, especially her breasts, which are on display in fuzzy flashback after fuzzy flashback. Also the slow-motion shot of the glass breaking, representing the shattering of the hero's persona, which I never tired of, in spite of its being repeated several times.

This was an interesting movie. A good B movie. I usually have the plot figured in the first three minutes. This one I did not expect the ending. Sometimes the story kind of dragged. I was kept guessing on the different characters, who was guilty, who was not. I couldn't get over how much the actor playing 'Gus' sounded like Danny Divito. Music was good and carried the action. It was made in 1991 and a reference to a Typeface made me stop and think. This was the day of the typewriter. The special effects were OK. The shattered glass was interesting throughout and at the end. I like movies that are not predictable. I also like movies that are not stereotypical, cars racing, gun fights, etc. This one had a good plot that didn't run the same old, same old. Worth watching at least once.
