Today it's memorial day, and right now it's on TV. My mother called me that I HAD to watch this one because what the movie is partly about my grandfather (her father) was there during the resistance. (he was apparently there during the raid at the register ---> he was leader of a group called Nico Muller and a Sniper) So that's cool!!! My grandfather has died a few years ago but I'm glad that he was such a hero when he was young!!! Every year on the fourth of May I always remember him. And the movie so far seems like the typical kind of dutch war movies, with all the very well known great actors, And they're always good.

The attention for this movie hides 'In de schaduw van de Overwinning' as also a very good movie. The movie sketches three ways to survive the war, 1. resistance by force (Jeroen Krabbe), 2. resistance by trying to deceiving (Edwin de Vries), 3. getting rich by dealing with both sites (Rijk de Gooijer). The different ways of approaching the war are nicely depicted. The movie is loosely based on historic figures: Jeroen Krabbe ~ Gerrit-Jan van der Veer, Edwin de Vries ~ Friederich Weinreb. In the movie there stories are mixed, but in reality they never met. Nice movie a visit worth.
