A group of friends become involved in a potentially deadly diamond heist. Poorly written and directed but also tries to sell copies from having Bruce Willis in it this terrible action film feels like a bad rip-off of heist films like 'The Town' and lacks the talent and the script that was needed to have and even the main actor described it as poor. Don't waste the time or the money into this film. (0/10)

"Setup" is about three friends who are into criminal activity and one of the three friends betray the other two."Sonny" (50 Cent) stops at nothing to find the former friend/betrayer "Vincent" (Ryan Phillippe). We find out near the end of the movie that "Vincent" betrayed his friends for money to pay to keep his father "William" (James Remar) in protective custody in prison. "Vincent" is the most stupidest character, it looks like his father is going to be in prison for a very long time, so you're just going to keep paying thousands of dollars every single month to keep him protected? very silly, "Vincent" is acting like the parent which is very patronising, bottom line his dad is in prison because of the choices that he made, it isn't the son's problem, if the situation were reversed it's unlikely that his dad would do the same for him, considering the way he talks to his son when he visits him in prison, there doesn't seem to be any love at all for his son.All the characters are foolish at one point due to getting involved in crime, but "Sonny" has a change of heart and chooses not to kill "Vincent" out of revenge, the Christian theme is good, but a major error is when the priest says "God can ALMOST forgive anything", there is no "almost", God forgives anything and everything, no matter how dark it is, when people ask God for forgiveness, He forgives! The famous sentence "No honour among thieves" is proved in this motion picture, so it shouldn't actually be surprising to the characters and to the viewers that one would turn against the others."Setup" is only about an hour and a half, it is fast-paced and never boring, the mob aspect doesn't outweigh the rest of the plot, thank God (it doesn't get anymore boring than mob depictions) Bruce Willis playing a mobster is annoying, but he is just a supporting character.Cinematographer Steve Gainer does a good job with the blue tint, it gives the movie a down to earth gritty vibe. There are not many interesting crime thrillers out there, but "Setup" is a must-watch.

(25%) A direct to DVD crime action flick staring a rapper who really can't carry a movie, Bruce Willis who's earning a pay cheque, and the guy with the cauliflower ears from the expendables movies. The plot is tried and tested, and has been done far too many times for something as utterly routine as this to make any sort of impact. To top it off, this actually knows that it's not only poorly crafted, but maybe even worse, indicates that it has such low opinions of its audience that key characters are actually labeled such as "The driver", "The mob boss", "The hit-man" etc so even simpletons can keep up, and the writers can go home early. But really if they wanted to make sure nobody gets left behind they should have made a better movie because towards the second half I couldn't really care anymore about anything. This isn't terrible, but even for a direct to video, is why too average to make any sort of mark.

I have thought out 6 different reviews by this point and so far, I have scrapped every last one. There is no need for me to waste your valuable time justifying myself and my reasons for granting "Setup" a rating of only 1 out of 10. What you, as the potential audience, really need to know is: Is this film worth watching? And, very briefly, why? SO here's the answer to those two questions: This film is not worth watching, not even for a moment. There is nothing in this film that you are missing out on by spending your evening doing something, anything else except for an almost non existent storyline which fails to be anything more than insultingly shallow even at it's most "intense" moments. If you consider that a great loss to your lifetime archive of experience then I must also warn you that you will be missing out on some absolutely astounding performances from both 50 Cent and Phillipe, who have each individually found a new and unique way of taking something that was awful and turning it into an absolute cock up.Granted, this is not the usual thoughtful and eloquent type of review I would like to write for a film, but I just don't see the point in taking my time when the film makers clearly didn't. There is nothing in this film that even makes it worth spell-checking the review.Want a good Bruce Willis film, go watch 12 monkeys. Want a good 50 cent film? ...You'll have to wait for it to be made.
