I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. There's no unnecessary buildup to the plot line; it gets going right after the credits. Prepon, from That 70s Show, is not much different from her character on the show. It will be interesting to see if she turns out to be more than a one note actress. There are some unbelievable moments (beside the whole premise of the movie): like changing clothes with handcuffs on. How does one pull a top over their head with cuffs on!?!? Things like that really annoy me.Carrie Fiaher's character is laugh out loud funny as 'The Ugly American' in another country. The leading male character is a good looking and funny actor. This was a pretty good romantic comedy. After reading some of the other reviews I almost skipped this one but I'm glad I didn't.
... View MoreWe all trudged through this B movie hell-bent on getting some benefit from our rental fee. Lame plot, stiff acting, bad direction, amateur camera-work... Have I forgotten anything? Oh yeah, Carrie Fisher is nothing short of sad. Very pathetic what's become of Princess Leia. My wife and I figured she had a stroke or perhaps did too many drugs. She was absolutely monolithic, that is, one face, one emotion, one tone of voice. And the girl! Leave her in some half-baked sitcom, please! And since when is a guy being a hunk criteria for granting a movie a positive review? Has everyone's brain turned to tapioca? Go watch some porn and quit providing an audience for film school dropouts.
... View MoreCarrie had me laughing throughout the whole movie! (I originally watched this because she was in it, now I'd watch it again for the movie itself.) I love romantic comedies and Carrie Fisher, so the two together it's like WHOA!! The plot was really good...Melisa married a total stranger the day before her wedding and she has to get the whole thing like annulled, and she has this control freak mother, Edwina (who is played by Carrie Fisher) who is like in freak mode the entire movie. In the end she chooses to leave Bryan (her fiancé) and go with Carlos. I loved the part where Edwina says:"Nothingis impossible. It's just possible with I M in front of it. You see I-M possible." I often use that when people say things are impossible!!
... View MoreI had the horrible misfortune of changing the channel to one that was showing this "thing that should not have been made." The plot was corny, tired and absolutely unbelievable. Furthermore, Laura Preppon as anybody but Donna just doesn't work. I kept waiting for the rest of the cast of characters from that 70's Show to appear at any moment as I watched the approximately five minutes of this movie that I could stomach. She has definitely typecast herself as Donna. The male lead, Mr. El Pollo Loco, was laughable in his role as well. What were the casting directors thinking when they cast these two in the leads? Princess Leah as a blimp did not help things either.
