The highway to hell runs straight through a college campus in this compelling thriller about a killer truck. After helping a pretty co-ed out of a nasty domestic situation, Jim Travis gives the girl a lift home. But once on the road, the situation takes a white-knuckle twist as Jim gets into a frightening duel with a crazy truck driver.

The movie starts with two vehicles going off a cliff and blowing up.Then we see a beautiful stone building--probably a chapel--on a college campus. Then a lot of beautiful buildings, some stone, others classic architecture of a different sort, some modern and no big deal.Bo is the quarterback and Sonia wants to break up because he was tempted by Carrie. I'm not sure what Bo and Carrie did. But whatever it was, Sonia is through with Bo. But Bo won't give her up. He grabs her, and Jim comes to her rescue. Bo sounds like he will keep on trying. Now Sonia needs a ride home. As it happens, Jim is a limo driver.Sonia and Jim are in the same astronomy class. Jim has had a rough life, and he has had life experience, including time spent in Antarctica, while Sonia is rich and used to getting what she wants. On the freeway, Jim is in the wrong lane when the time comes to exit. He moves quickly into the right lane and doesn't see the black Dodge Ram pickup. The pickup has to stop so quickly to avoid a wreck that it spins completely around. And then the chase begins. The driver of the Ram, hidden behind dark glass, wants revenge! The stunt drivers are amazing! Especially when one or both cars go the wrong way. Finally, a police car gets involved, but it ends up like the Hazzard County cop cars. Several cars wreck and there's even an explosion. In fact, this movie includes about half a dozen jumps in the tradition of Bo and Luke Duke, some of them really good. Two involve a hay truck, so watch for that.Once the Dodge Ram is no longer in sight, Jim is able to turn into a police station, but he's the one the cops are after. Jim and Sonia can't provide enough information to catch the driver of the Dodge Ram and prove they're not at fault for the chaos, so it's a wonder they get to leave. It's dark and the limo needs gas. No sign of the Dodge Ram. Until ...The chase resumes and ends up on a curvy mountain road. There are quiet moments where the characters learn about each other, but these usually don't last too long. There is at least one new vehicle in the chase toward the end. Several people die. Whoever's in that truck seems to have no morals. By the way, we will learn who it is.I was going to say one of the highlights was a scene at a farm which is followed by one with a bus. Actually, once the bus enters the picture, it's edge-of-your-seat excitement straight to the end. And what an ending! This movie is best if you just enjoy the chases. The quality of the dialogue varies. There is some comedy, and this is usually better than the rest of the dialogue. Sonia doesn't often show as much emotion as one might expect in this situation, although at times she is scared, at times terrified, and sometimes he is enjoying all of this as if she was Thelma and Jim was Louise. And Jim also seems to be enjoying himself about half the time, even though the other driver seems to want to kill him and Sonya. But don't be misled; they are mostly frightened. In many cases, I fully expect that critics and IMDb members just say bad writing and even bad acting.Larry has some of the funniest lines. He's just a poor kid that didn't intend to get caught up in all this mess. It's actually worth seeing if all you care about is action.

This is the worst film I've ever seen. The acting in this movie is so bad it gives me a headache. Specially the beginning of the chase where Danielle Brett is telling Casper van Dien to "watch out","slow down" and "be careful" is painfully embarrassing to watch. During the chase you see a few cars pretending to drive there but the rest of the road is empty in front and behind the chase. The whole film (at least the part I watched) is full of self-repairing cars n stuff. Scratches, dents and broken taillights all gone in the blink of an eye.If you really hate someone give em this movie to watch.Jim.

Boy, am I in the minority about this particular film. You see, I thought this movie was a lot of good, silly, rousing fun. Sure, it's a cheesy B-picture, but it does the trick and delivers the stirring goods, which makes it a solid film in my book. Okay, with that obligatory explanation stuff out of the way let's get on with this here review. After they accidentally cut off an ominous giant black pick-up truck on the highway, both dashing limousine driver Jim Travis (firmly played by perennial straight-to-cable TV feature topliner Casper Van Dien) and his fetching female passenger Sonia Walker (the very cute Danielle Brett) end up being relentlessly terrorized on an isolated patch of sticksville mountainside backroads by the pick-up's dangerously unbalanced and irritable wombat driver. Veteran director Sidney J. Furie tackles the admittedly trite "Duel" rehash material with commendable flair and aptitude, keeping the pace sprightly and unwavering throughout, creating a reasonable amount of tension, and staging several truly spectacular bash 'em, crash 'em and smash 'em up car chases and automobile stunts with smack dead on-target exciting results. Moreover, both leads turn in personable performances, the dialogue possesses real snap and wit, there are a few genuinely startling plot twists, the blaring rock score totally smokes, and, most importantly, we've got no pretense whatsoever to be found in a single fleet frame of this amazingly vigorous and galvanizing little beaut.

I purchased this movie under the name "Road Rage." This movie jumps right into conflict, no wasting time. Van Dien's character breaks up a quarrel between Brett and Griffin's characters. Griffin is merely your stereotypical, obsessive, stalker boyfriend. Brett is the girl next door who was at first impressed with Griffin's dedication and attention to her, but now sees him for the freak that he is. Van Dien, an unknown classmate of Brett's, instantly makes an enemy of Griffin by heroicly (in blond hair I might ad) defending Brett and getting his forehead mashed in her name (sound effect: Tim Allen, "ArooooOOO!"). Van Dien romantically offers Brett a ride home in is "limousine." Griffin (Bo) glares at Van Dien from the distance as Van Dien drives Brett away. At this moment you see the transformation of Bo into Darth Bo, vengeful and unstoppable. While driving Brett home, Van Dien enjoys the bliss of his macho rescue. Not paying attention to the road, he cuts of a fancy truck in traffic, causing it to spin out (impressively not hitting anyone else). Though the windows of this truck are tinted, you can imagine, based on the scenes to come, that the driver's eyes turned white, his clothes splitting and anger RULING his actions (reference: David Banner [Hulk]). Here's where I must say the stunt drivers for this film did a pretty good job! The EVIL truck begins chasing our new favorite couple, for a VERY long time. I was exhausted by the time this show ended. I felt like I had just driven home in rush our at 60 MPH in stand still traffic. This is another good Saturday afternoon movie. Get some M&Ms and popcorn, kick those shoes off and GO.
