The movie doesn't present itself as a psycho thriller, but as an action-flick. You might end up going in with the wrong expectations. Don't be mistaken - if your a fan of action you will definitely get your share, but it might leave you confused. It takes a little more work to understand the motivation behind Jude Law's character and how he tries to redeem himself, more than the average Joe is willing to provide.www.mahendraguru.com

A sci fi horror of this magnitude, we have been missing for a long time. Repo Men is so bloody exciting and fun, and a chance to watch Jude Law, who normally plays pussy roles, kick some serious butt. One scene towards the end, goes completely insane, and we lap it up. Law, is surprisingly good, playing one of the bad guys and he does it well, really giving off some menace in the earlier part. He balances this well with a good side. He plays Remy who works for this insidious, and lucrative operation known as the union. For a hefty fee, they can replace organs, hearts, etc, only with one deadly catch. If you fall behind on payment, they come and reclaim your new ticker, by of course, surgical procedure, where we see a few bloody examples, as set by the slackers, one happening to be a reggae singer Remy likes. He's even patient and respectful in his business, waiting for the reggae singer to first finish up his recording, while also singing to himself. See, Repo Men has humor as well. More so, what I like about it, is of course it's bloody original. When someone rigs a de fibulator, and Remy takes a shock that sends him flying back across the room, it's him who's now on the other side of the law, where not having the cost for his new ticker, provided by of course the union. He flees, teaming up with a washed up, drugged out singer, where the hunt begins, but it's so much adventurous and wild fun. Whitaker who plays Remy's best friend, and work colleague plays off Law well, but apart from Alice Braga as the singer, the other notable performance is that off the corrupt boss, played by Liev Schrieber. He's unforgettable. Of course, Repo Men not for the faint of heart, as we view a few dissections. It has some really cool scenes, like Law's son's shark/fish silhouetted room. We spend a bit of family time, as well, another thing I liked about it, as I never would of expected that in this, but I never expected the film to be of this quality, where there's also a great set up of story, and I'm talking too about Whitaker's selfish motives, which we'll become clear to you, later in the film. Repo Men will surprise you in the factor, as you won't expect such a quality product. We also see the whitest laboratory you've ever seen. Get ready for a twist, at the end, though I found it a real comedown. Dreadful matching song too, that's an old favorite. It was really good to see Law (an actor who I'm not really into) in something like this.

Here is a movie which received lots and lots of negative reviews which, in my opinion, it did not deserve. Yes,!!(SPOILER)!! it might look like the 1985 "Brazil" as so many critics claim, but then again most of the movies today (late 2000's and on) are in my opinion licked off their 20th century predecessors and big successes. For a sci-fi, this picture is one worth watching for at least two reasons: 1)the plot is wrapped in a futuristic cloak which quite frankly fits with modern world issues, a quality many movies lack today, and !!(SPOILER)!! 2) it is bloody, dirty and filthy exactly the way it should be, no less and no more. Now I have read some reviews where the movie is blamed to be exactly that, an unnecessary bloodbath, but it simply cannot be otherwise. As for the sarcastic comments concerning !!(SPOILER)!! the unrealistic fight scenes and surgical operations beyond survival reality, PLEASE do not forget that this is nothing but !!(SPOILER)!! a plot of the main hero's imagination, a dream. "Inception" was full of this, so why is "Repo Men" so bullied? More importantly, and that's really the point of this probably long and boring review is that many critics are missing the point of the movie: its message. Hurrying to bury it in "unnecessary violence" and "unchecked reality", many forget that it sends out a clear message about where we are going. It is really, as some said, a satire (and a very sad one) of our "merchandised", "customer-based" reality. The ending in my opinion is somewhat expected, but then again it is absolutely brilliant, wrapping and putting all the "rough stitches" back in place for the "meticulous" viewers. I especially liked the "cat reference" in the movie, something many have probably never paid attention to. Really, !!(SPOILER)!! Remy is exactly that, the cat. Everything came back to the beginning, a prophecy.I recommend this movie for people who are not afraid of gore where it is inevitable and who like their films to be with a grain of thought in them, something an awful lot of so-called "blockbusters" today absolutely lack.

This movie is a great analogy between what happened due to "the innovations" in the financial world. Example: "Sure you need to buy this house and sign for the mortgage ... you owe it to yourself ... you owe it to your family" ... And a couple of years later they take away your house and leave you with a great debt that also ruins your life and may even cost your life. More and more people are not able to cope anymore and commit suicide and sometimes even kill their own young children to "spare them". The people that come to collect or sell your stuff can be compared with the repo man. They can do it, until they're a victim themselves ... What I didn't like about this representation of how the system has become way more important than what is was for ... is the amount of blood. Still, it makes it all the more horribly and painfully clear what we're dealing with here ... What I liked about the story, is how it's presented that the bond between two people ain't all that clear. It was astounding to find out how it finally turns out what Jake has arranged for Remy.
