I saw this on broadcast TV Late Movie and was both disappointed and excited. I saw the description as having Chad McQueen and wished to really just see if he looked like his dad. The writing and editing was at best abysmal! The car chases were the best part except for some editing...a first year film student could have done better!! Spoiler data 2 follow so stop now if you care....... First the ZR-1 scenes were VERY cool...jumps and stuff and at the end they smash it into a brick wall!!!!! WAY COOL! At one point Chad must steal a car to get away from the bad guy...any guesses which car?....his dad's Mustang Bullit car of course! The cinematography is at times archaic and unique at others but is overdone. In one scene as they race through a cemetery skirting death the camera does a 360 degree shot that is very unique but they do it several times and you actually get dizzy! They apparently didn't have $ to do long chase scenes so they used a couple cameras then used the different shots. The only problem was it was WAY obvious and were used minutes later in obviously the SAME unique location. It actually looked worse than "Airwolf" ...same shot of Chad shifting...mob guy close up..same shot Chad shifting...ad infinitum! One scenes editing was laughable they used the EXACT SAME SEQUENCE TWICE....they went around a curve and a Ford model "A or T" was coming toward them and it even "ahhhh-oooo-ga"ed....Not once...but TWICE! They didn't even edit the sound!!!Being a Corvette nut I searched many stores at the mall today...but there are SO many films with the name RED LINE spelled different ways I just decided to find it here....BTW, oddly a 1997 sci-fi flick of the same name ALSO has a C4 Vette on the cover. If you like Vettes, or thought Stalone in Cobra was a comedy....you gotta see this movie!!

This was meant to be a comedy, right? It couldn't have been a serious try at an action/drama flick! I had more laughs watching this mess than any Jim Carrey movies! I loved watching McQueen get all confused trying to figure out the shift pattern on that 'Bullitt' ripoff Mustang. How about when he popped the clutch in reverse & then couldn't find first gear! Ahahaha! Or the high performance Corvette that couldn't outrun the 195 horsepower Police cars. Then there's the obligatory Bullitt chase sequence ripoff where all the cross traffic is 'mysteriously' moving faster than the chase vehicles.(I'm not sure I can spoil anything about this thing but I guess this could be a spoiler):I like the Reservoir Dog ripoff scene. Is that how they fooled Madsen into getting involved in this thing? The only drama I found was looking at Vincents face.I kept wondering how hammered he must have been to check himself out of a hospital after a near fatal crash just to act in such a fatal wreck of a movie. Actually, I think I might be too harsh. It really served some good unintentional humor! Sort of like watching The A-Team.

Lots of cars get wrecked in this movie which is only fitting, as this is a car wreck of a movie. You know you shouldn't stare, but you go ahead and do it anyway. If you hang in there and keep watching, you'll be treated to classic scenes such as a car chase in which identical film clips keep looping to give the impression that the chase stretches over an extended period. A lead actress so bad she would be hooted off the stage of a high school production. And former "big name" actors who have some explaining to do if they ever want to be taken seriously again.

This movie is hideously bad. You can't blame the cast, especially Michael Madsen, but what are they doing in this junk? Even Corey Feldman and Robert D'Zar are completely wasted. Jan-Michael Vincent looks as though he has been in a serious accident--his face is full of scars and his speech is somewhat warbled. I won't even comment on Dom Deluise. The real problems are the direction and writing, both done by the same no-name. The dialogue is so inept it is laughable. Another problem is the stuntwork, or lack thereof. Most of the stunts consist of cars spinning around on grass or dirt or pavement, cars quickly accelerating/decelerating, or even cars driving off ledges (wow!!) There aren't even any explosions or gunplay.Do yourself a favor--avoid this movie.
