It's not always a good thing when someone writes and directs a film-- but in this case, it worked out Great! A story of two men, Rag and Tag, starting as friends while still little boys, who meet up again, all-grown up, or trying to be. It seems to take place in London. One of the two,Tag, now has a girlfriend Olivia, but with the tension between them, we can tell its probably not a good match. Rag makes his feelings for Tag very clear, but Tag isn't as sure. We walk around town seeing all the family and friends again, then they decide to fly off to nigeria, ostensibly to visit relatives. But Tag's friends have other reasons for wanting to meet up. Back to London. Good times. Bad times. It's a roller coaster ride. Good soundtrack. My only complaint was a common one for indie films -- the sound goes up and down. This was the first project for director Adaora Nwandu, and it's a job well done. This also seems to be the only film done by the two guys playing Rag and Tag. Wonder why.
... View MoreWith a small budget this film deserve a very good critic. Finally a film with a gay theme without a tragedy. One moving story, with good actors.I recognize problems with edition, and other small Technics problems. But who care about this, when we see a film so full of truth and tenderness??? Sometimes I ask me why films about gay man are sad, dramatic? Why can we have a film with gay thematic without hope? Some scenes for me were really sublime. The story is very sensitive, principally because the plot is about black, gay and poor people. I would like to see more films like this: simple, direct, full of truth, one real story. This story can happen.
... View MoreThis film is about two childhood friends who fight against the odds to be together."Rag Tag" is a low budget film, so the visuals and sets are not as impressive as the blockbusters. Hence, it needs a good plot to captivate viewers. "Rag Tag" tells a touching story of undying love between two childhood friends. Even though they face societal pressure, criminal temptation, jealousy and non-acceptance, their love still manages to blossom into something beautiful. It is a beautiful story. The only problem I have with it is that it is a little too slow paced. If it was a little faster paced, it would have been an even more captivating film.
... View MoreI hate to write a bad review about what is apparently a genuine and authentic attempt to make a film. Some films are just so patently awful that skewering them is almost cathartic. This is not the case here. Rag Tag is about two friends, Rag and Tag, who come from different backgrounds, are separated as children and reunited as adults. While it has a potentially interesting story and there are a few laughs and even a few sweet moments, these few and far between assets are lost amidst poor directing, filming, editing, acting and (at least in the showing I saw) bad sound. I went to this film on this site's high rating (an amazing 7.7, as of this writing), but it definitely wasn't worth my $10. Save your money and give it a pass.3/10.
