The Pink Panther builds a motorcycle and decides to try it out, only to find the machine going haywire like driving backwards and doing the splits. Each time the Pink Panther rebuilds his motorcycle and takes it out for a ride, a weary policeman spots him and attempts to take him in. Only when the panther's last attempt at riding the motorcycle, built with bed frame bars, that the vehicle self-destructs, enabling the police officer to finally catch up him. But, a surprise ending gives the panther the upper-hand.A pretty funny Pink Panther cartoon with some slapstick humor and action.Grade B+

This cartoon has got to be one of Pink Panther's most simplistic when it comes to story and artwork. The story is fun, even if not terrific. The artwork is relatively poor, even for the standards of these cartoons.Yet, like in any of these cartoons, Pinky finds himself into a new challenge on this one. Here, he builds and drives motorcycles. However, things with the motorcycle go wrong and he sees himself unable to control the motorcycle driving backwards at a dangerous speed, which leads him to confrontations with a police man - who, actually and as a coincidence, happens to drive a motorcycle as well.Anyway, there are moments of fun and moments that makes one give some laughters. Classic humor, what more can I say? Like I said, it's not much of a story, but still is entertaining and enjoyable enough.

The Pink Panther looks pleased as he exits his workshop, putting the finishing touches on his put-put motor scooter, which looks almost like a motorcycle but a lot cheaper, more like a motorized bicycle. Anyway, he starts it up and winds up going backwards. That ride includes running over a billboard in which a cop was hiding. The rest of the cartoon is more of the same: showing the Panther unable to ride this bike, and several more he constructs after the first is demolished, and the poor motorcycle cop who seems to be the victim of the Panther's mechanical ineptitude building motorbikes. The third bike - made from a radiator - is by far the funniest and it leads to a good ending, too.Overall, it's mildly amusing and elevated by the last two gags.

This short is reasonably good, with some decent gags, though it gets a bit predictable in spots. I want to discuss this in some detail, so here there be spoilers: The Pink Panther wants to build and ride a motorcycle (there's a recipe for disaster right there), but has trouble getting it out of reverse, which helps attract the attention of a motorcycle cop who looks like he could be the "Little White Guy" (the Pink Panther's usual foil) or a close relative. From here on in, what happens to the poor cop makes it clear that this just wasn't his day! The Pink Panther and machinery don't typically work and play well together. Okay-virtually nothing and the Pink Panther work and play well together. But the net loser here is the motorcycle cop! He gets flattened and otherwise injured throughout this short, until he finally catches his Panther and puts him in a cell. The ending is a scream and makes the whole thing worth seeing. This short is on the five disc Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection and it and the Collection are well worth seeing. Recommended.
