This animated short film tells the story of Rex who accidentally messes up his friend's party. He gets called "Party Pooper Rex" soon afterwards. Hence, he decides to become "Partysaurus Rex".The story is very simple, but it is really fun. The music is energetic and uplifting, the lights are psychedelic and there is even foam! The bathtub party is so epic that I wish I was there. Now I need to watch a film about epic parties of mega proportions!

I don't know what it is, but as much as I enjoy these full feature "Toy Story" films, as little I think of the many animated short films they added to the franchise. Basically all of the supporting characters got their own big moment. This one here has Rex in its center and after being called a party pooper, he starts a huge party in the bathtub with a new bunch of friends. That's basically all there is to it. There is no heart in this short film, no real emotion and the fun basically all refers to the bathtub being turned into a gigantic discotheque. The new characters are okay to watch, but not too memorable. Also we don't really find out a lot about them. The writer and director is Mark A. Walsh and even if he worked on several other famous films again, this is his first job in both areas. Maybe a bit more experienced filmmaker would not have hurt. This short film is entertaining on just not enough occasions, so I cannot really recommend watching it. I really hope that "Toy Story 4" (guess it's coming at some point) will be as good as the feature films again and not as mediocre as the short movies.

"Toy Story" has recently spawned several short films and I have enjoyed them all. While "Partysaurus Rex" is gorgeously animated (probably better than the previous ones), the story is paper-thin. This is not to say it's not enjoyable--but it certainly is not a must-see.The film, not surprisingly, is about Rex. He's one of many toys that Bonnie loves to play with in the tub. And, after Bonnie leaves, the toys all come to life and party. And, the leader of this group of toys is Rex.The biggest worry in this little film? How will Rex turn off the water so the place isn't flooded! Not much of a conflict. But the characters are cute, the CGI is great and kids will no doubt love it. For adults, however, it's just a trifle.

Partysaurus Rex is a 3D Toy Story short which precedes the 3D reworking of Finding Nemo. In it, the chronically anxious plastic dinosaur Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn), dismissed as a party pooper by those toys who have known him for ever, accidentally finds himself transformed into a party animal by the bathtime toys. Colourful chaos ensues.Much as I love Pixar and the Toy Story franchise, this is particularly slight stuff. There is little story, the gags are OK but not great, and the 3D is not wonderful. Don't get me wrong: it's OK - it's very bright and colourful and, as expected, great to look at - but the Toy Story people have done much better.
