Louise (Sophia Myles) is an alienated boarding school student in the midst of a hot and heavy affair with the husband of her headmistress, Veronica (Sophie Ward). Suspicion and passion hang in the air of the isolated campus until Matthew (George Asprey) suddenly disappears. Fearing the worst, Louise struggles to uncover what happened to her lover, but is foiled at every turn by Veronica, who begins to take a sadistic glee in the psychological torment she inflicts upon her. When a mysterious woman appears around the campus, Louise becomes convinced that she is being framed for the murder of Matthew, or even worse, being set up to be the next victim. Alone and friendless, Louise must keep herself alive long enough to uncover the truth of Mathew"s disappearance.

This was well acted especially by the two female leads. However, the twists were overdone...especially Celia Imrie as a Psycho. She being a doctor how come she did not know Mr Van Huet was properly dead!?Other characters, Sophie ward's first husband and his second wife didn't instill belief, when all others did. Also, Mr Van Huet also became a sudden Psycho, killing Michael Elphick(not wholly sure why, was Mr Elphick in on his "death") and, so the viewer, may believe at the end going to kill Sophie Myles. If it had not gone slightly over the top and crappy other characters, it could have been a really eerie/mystery film in the old Gothic style. It's a shame to the male world that Sophie Ward is a lesbian. But Overall enjoyable.

This film is well acted, especially by it's two attractive leads, Sophie Ward and Sophia Miles. Two better known actors, at least to me, are in support roles - Celia Imrie and Michael Elphick. The action takes place in a remote location (a girl's boarding school during the holidays) and has an Agatha Christie's 'Ten Little Indians' / 'And Then There Were None' atmosphere to it. The twists come thick and fast and I believe too often. The film seems to slip in and out of being a supernatural thriller and in the end I am unsure whether it was supposed to be or not. Perhaps a second viewing would tie up a few loose ends.I have scored this movie 5/10 but it deserves higher for it's acting.Spoilers: The character Michael Elphick played was introduced as such an unimportant, yet filler role, that a British audience would expect he would have an impact on proceedings later on. He did, but in a story of so many twists, it impact was diluted.

What a complete waste of time, redeemed only by occasional shots of the heroine's nipples. Other people say this is a sexy, English thriller. I'd say it's a formulaic hash of melodrama. A single positive note: some of the actors do deliver compelling and convincing performances, but what a terrible waste with this material. To save you also watching to the end to find out what's going to happen, I'd like to try and explain the last half of the film. Really, I'd like to. But, my God, I can't. I've no idea why the victims end up dead, why the villains decide to kill them, or why the other proponents look on with horror. It doesn't make any real sense, except to justify pointless, end suspending twist, after pointless twist. So before I waste more time on this film, bed.

It was a strong cast and tension built up nicely for a good deal of the film. I found the two main characters quite intriguing, as well as convincing. It had a creepy feel to it. The opening music suggested a cheap b film, but the acting lifted it a bit above that and it had some psychological interest. I'd have preferred if it had continued as a psychological drama; it had the potential to be better than it was.I decided not to include spoilers, but the story line really was poor towards the end. Did the writer think that we're so used to twists that we need an exponential number of them in order to keep surprising us? I enjoyed it until the last 20 minutes or so, at which point the story became plain silly. A real pity, as it was a reasonably good film in the beginning.
