A very moving film.Very well thought out and was shot very well. They dynamic between both characters were very dynamic. It was a very deep and meaningful film. It had a fine blend of comedic timing while with a good balance of dramatic expression. It has a very surreal and expressionistic approach. A great reflection how sometimes relationships do not work out and in some ways time will heal it has a very philosophical approach that many including myself can relate to in regards to loss. A lot of visual metaphorical meaning through out the film. The story shows how a simple gesture might be hard to express in a relationship. Vijay Sethupathi character has impeccable comedic which transcends throughout the whole cast.

But the end of the movie made me thank every one who asked me to do so. The story is of a man obsessed with orange candies despite its ill effects on his health and his emotions portrayed from being notoriously irritating to a man who longs for affection who is able to love and care back at others when cared upon. Vijay sedupathi is a man who is alone , his son hates him, none in the village care about his existence .all that is there in his life is about him , his long list of disease and his dilapidated house. To make himself connected with the outside world he often "calls " 108 emergency services so that he can converse with the paramedic. One such call makes him meet Ramesh(satya) who is different from others . Having lost his father recently he is more considerate towards him. The movie is about Vijay plays his antics across the journey. They soon develop a bond which food the vacuum in each other's life. Meanwhile, Aarshita(kavya) who plays satyas love interest is forced to commit to a guy and satya since could not be there on time makes her break up with him(I really wonder how things go wrong in a day). Finally Vijay gets treated for his health issues and gets back along with sathya, first to meet his son and then go talk to kavya and her father to convince them. So what's special about the movie ? Its about how a man undergoes his old age related issues and the pain of loneliness, to someone who is waiting to die, it doesn't matter what the world thinks about his personality, the scene when he stops the auto and dances on the road literally tells me how liberating it would have felt for the old man to have a caring company. The story has its own short falls, a rather slow picturisation does have an impact on the overall movie viewing experience. Movies with good emotions are hard to come by. Grab a seat, everyone needs to watch this.
... View MoreThe actors vijay sethupathi, ramesh are good. But there is no in-depth story or dialogues. Such movies are supposed to tell about the characters as the movie goes on, but in here the movie keeps on moving but we cant learn anything important or interesting about the characters.Anbe sivam was a good movie whereas orange mittai is just a boring movie with good visuals. The railway gate scene, leaving the hospital bed scene, are good scenes in this film, but the film misses badly in terms of giving a wholesome experience.
... View MoreActor Vijay Sethupathi has never been afraid to experiment with unconventional roles and offbeat films. In "Orange Mittai" Vijay Sethupathi plays Kailasam, an arrogant, short-tempered 55-year-old, whose only source of entertainment in his boring life is his frequent trips to the hospital. Its bitter sweet story of a son looking for a father figure and a father looking for a son to love. Orange Mittai is directed by acclaimed director Biju Viswanath, whose works include award-winning films like Déjàvu and Marathon. The film appears more like a real-life incident. The most important aspect of this film is that, even though its speaks about estranged father son relationships ,the movie doesn't stoop of melodrama and usual emotional gimmicks in regular Tamil cinema. The film ends on the note that"journey is destination" which sums up the felling that you get while watching the movie. Feel good movie, definitely watchable.
