We all were excited when we heard the Ajay Devgan-Emraan Hashmi crime thriller was getting a sequel. But before entering the theater, keep your expectations down. This isn't Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara. This isn't your crime edge of the seat thriller. It's a love triangle between a prince-a starlet-and an evil king. The prince is essayed by Imran Khan. Well, we didn't know what came over Ekta Kapoor on casting him. He is one of the weakest parts of the movie. His acting won't make you root for him.The starlet is Sonakshi Sinha. She is just the woman stuck between 2 gangsters. This isn't her big milestone in acting. She has done an average performance. The evil king is the talented Akshay Kumar! Believe me, he saved a worthless dumb story movie with his acting skills. This is one of those movies where instead of rooting for their hero, you're wanting the trophy to be handed to the villain.Other performances by Sonali Bendre, Mahesh Manjrekar, Abhimanyu Singh all are average. The songs were very pleasant to the ears. Best ones were "Yeh Tune Kya Kiya", "Chugliyaan" and "Tu Hi Khwahish"Remember, this isn't your crime thriller movie. It's a romantic one. Buy your popcorn and watch this for Akshay Kumar only...
... View Moreawesome movie.. great performances by Akshay and Imran.. Akshay suits the character well. as soon as the movie starts you go with the movie and never get bored. starting from the music, performances, story everything is good. I should have watched the movie in the first day only..:(.. much better than crap movie Chennai Express. Akshay rocks as usual and Imran also has done a good job in the movie. Hats off to Akshay and Imran..love it...:) enjoyed the movie throughly. dialogues are punched very well. When you leave the theatre, you keep thinking about Akshay's dialogue. I am sure you are definitely going to start speaking these dialogues as its very touchy..Going to watch once again because it is again..
... View MoreThe movie being the sequel of a popular crime film 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai' was one of the most anticipated movies of the year. But, the movie is nowhere near to its prequel in comparison. One of the drawbacks is the story as the tag line suggests 'This time it's personal.' The love story is the first priority which was not the same in the first installment.Another possible reason is the cast of the movie. Akshay Kumar may be a very popular actor but according to me, he didn't get it right this time around whereas Emraan Hashmi playing the same character of Shoaib Khan in the first installment of the movie was much more natural. The first part had fewer dialogues and were appropriate. This time, there are just too many of them which is not so impressing. However, the music is quite commendable. The songs are worth listening but are played in the movie when not really required. In other words, I would say that the movie wasn't up to the mark and didn't stand up to people's expectations.
... View MoreIn Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara, a love triangle forms the bloodline of the story, replete with 'donnisms', molls with maal and an overkill of 'loaded' dialogues pe dialogues. This is a love story of a gangster, it does not reopen dons' crime diaries. The first part is more engaging; thereon, the sluggish pace lacks the same dumb. The heavy-duty dialogues (Rajat Aroraa) punch drama in the story, though at times too overbearing. More than anything else in Milan Luthria's sequel, Akshay towers. He chews up the scenery with his dangerous frown, flaring nostrils, dark glasses, flicked cigarettes and thunderous dialogue. Yes, the film is over-wrought, melodramatic and designed as pulp fiction. But it's also fun! It had me cheering for the bad guy. Which, at least in the movies, is never a bad thing. I'm going with four stars. One star is for Akshay Kumar who makes a stellar killer.
