No smoking is a very metaphorical movie which bollywood audience might not digest easily. While theme was quitting smoking ,it was a pretty much a metaphor for getting rid of one's inner evil and later we are shown how you end up getting exploited by the very friend you relied on,losing your closed ones due to your inflated ego and finally spiraling down into circumstances where things are no longer under your control and the only destination is death and rebirth through surreal imagery and metaphors along with some pretty good dark humor. However there are some cones too.I think it cold had been a wee bit shorter. It does feels drags on at certain moment. In conclusion,I liked that this kind of movie came out from mainstream Hindi cinema.I appreciate Annurag Kashyap's will remained adamant to materialize this movie.

No Smoking is made with good intentions and the filmmaker is desperately trying to do something completely out of the box in this movie. However, the movie which has several themes such as surrealism, fantasies and dream sequences, makes the viewer completely distant from the underlying meaning of it all. It is frustrating to watch a movie and not comprehend the whole point of the story. The cinematography is good and John Abraham does a decent job in the lead role. The movie seems to be inspired by Mulholland Drive which is another movie that can drive the viewer insane with its ambiguous storyline. Even though Anurag Kashyap must be praised for trying to make experimental movies, the movie must give the viewer some clue as to what the truth is. The movie will be frustrating and disappointing for most of the people. Hence, stay away from it unless you are looking for something completely different from the usual crap.

Anurag Kashyap is known for making abstract films, No Smoking is one of his most abstract films which is very complex to understand The film has a good concept and treated very differently and should be watched minutely. The film starts well and the way it executes it will not be understood on one watch. The way John's character unfolds is superbly, his scenes of frustration are all well handled, till the end it makes you confused but that was what Anurag was intending forDirection by Anurag Kashyap is good Music is okayJohn Abraham often criticised for his acts does a great job in this film, he plays the character perfectly, Ayesha annoys, Ranvir Shorey is okay, Paresh Rawal is amazing rest are okay

Vigorously recommended! This movie placed a milestone on the path of Indian cinema, which, unfortunately, will remain untrodden for a long time. AK's back. The dark situations, the dark comedies, plot to keep you on the seat's edge, excellent screenplay, mysterious portrayal of characters. But this movie isn't for normal movie buffs. This is special. John Abraham has done probably the best acting of his career. Ayesha Takia is cute, a bit unused here. Paresh Rawal is the "Guru Gantaal" to look for! Amazing! His characterization is too difficult to visualize. But then, it is Anurag Kashyap and Raj Singh Chaudhary, who have done it! Kudos. The film just failed to amaze audience, but then is it really so? Of course not. This flick will turn your mind upside down. Awesome. The film is stylish too, unlike AK's other low budget films. Super recommendation for this!
