Frostie (Dwayne Cameron) is, contrary to popular myth, not a Snowman in this Aussie offering. He is a professional thief – and he has an agent, this is in the, very rotund, shape of Terry. Now he is not a nice man and he has others who work for him – more brawn than brain though. Then he sends Frostie to get a package from a nice suburban house – should be a nice earner with no complicationsHowever, whilst there he discovers he is not alone and has no choice but to take his hapless victim captive. And thus the most ludicrous hostage situation ever begins. This involves his gay mate too; and just keep an eye out for some great touches including the world's most interestingly shaped bong. Now I expected nothing from this but it is the film that just keeps giving. The characters are all likable and for the most part believable and the story is storming too. This sort of has it all and for a small budget indie you'd not notice the limitations – and that is some achievement; moreover it is genuinely funny. This is from Dan Macrthur who should be very pleased with this film – completely recommended
... View MoreOne thing that bores me about a lot of crime comedies is that they put so much effort into proving how gritty, cool and badass they are that they forget to give the viewer a good time. Nice Package is a refreshing exception. It certainly doesn't take itself too seriously and as a result, it is just simply good fun to watch. Quick paced while leaving enough breathing room for healthy dialogue, the storyline has plenty of twists, yet didn't leave me scrambling for the pause button to make sense of it. The characters have depth enough to make them genuinely relatable (some more inexplicably likable than others) and it wasn't long after meeting them that I'd familiarised with their respective personalities, which vary from deadpan dry to comical flamboyance. There is a very "current" feel to the film with plenty of pop-culture references to dress it with a splash of relevance and slatherings of cool whilst remaining down to earth enough to evade the pretentiousness that often comes with the crime comedy territory.
... View MoreSorry to the actors and all the crew, because I know the work and money that goes into making a movie. But the writing and plot were childlike , the movie was full of clichés, the gay guy was a poor imitation of Zach galifianakis , the directing was poor and it was very predictable at every turn. You will find one or two moments to snigger at lightly but on the whole, this is a very disappointing and poor attempt at a comedy crime movie. I gave it 2 in support of the actors who are not at fault . It is always sad to see this type of movie being done over and over again with nothing new to show and this was the epitome of that. Originality is difficult to find, but with a bit of talent it can be created.
... View MoreNice Package is sure to be a hit!! I loved every 92 minutes of this movie and have been raving to friends since reviewing it. It really is fully loaded with laughs and is lots of fun to watch. The story hooks you from the beginning and entices you to follow the package along with the brilliant characters along the interesting journey.Nice Package is a full of great characters who burst through the screen and strengthen the story, due to the well appointed cast. Although the cast collectively are reasonably unknown the feeling is an "all star" cast in this film- they're exceptional & each plays their role with flare. There really has not been a great Australian film like this for some time. Additionally it is wonderful to see a film we can export internationally and be proud of the finished product.Nice Package is a roller coaster ride of thrills....A truly unique and exciting film!! A MUST WATCH. I really enjoyed it.
