This documentary focuses on 2 New York City teens, Devante and Miles, their passion for magic and their aspirations to eventually move into the upper echelons of magicians. They perform as street magicians, entertain at children's parties, participate at the weekly shows held at a local magic shop, run by Roger Quan, and even compete at national competitions. However, the film will also document Devante and Miles' struggles with their own personal demons. With Devante it's the lure of being a member of local gangs in Queens, while Miles will struggle with drugs and depression. The teens will receive help and encouragement along the way from fellow magicians, as well as some renowned names in the field. A mentor for them will be Danny T,, who they know from the magic shop and who has a number of contacts in the field. They will accompany Danny to Las Vegas, the hub of the magic industry, where Devante will try and find an agent and Miles will attend magic school.I won't reveal the ending here, but I will say I was engaged enough to want to know how it would all turn out. The movie is directed by Ted Wallach and is narrated by Common. To note, there were no subtitles on my DVD copy but I was able to get them from the closed caption option on my remote.
