Mark, a 27-year-old Russian emigrant, is having a recurring dream about his father, who sent him to study to Germany after a war began in their country ten years earlier. Since then, they have never spoken, and Mark harbored resentment towards his father over his life in Berlin, which he appears to be dissatisfied with. One morning, Mark runs into an old friend of his, who tells him about his recent trip to Russia, and Mark decides to return home, where there is still a sluggish conflict.
