India where Bollywood is center of Hindi movie industry it is very difficult to see a movie with a blend of a good story line actors who really play the role as if its actually his real life. Manjhi is based on true story where nawaz portrays the character of Dasharath manjhi, we knew that a person called manjhi has cut down a mountain to pay a way between 2 cities so that no one will face the problem which his wife had faced through. But know one knew what struggle he had gone though to complete this huge task. This movie beautifully portrays the story which will leave you overwhelmed. Radhika apte also plays a strong character of a beautiful wife and has given her above par performance. Director Ketan Mehta has given anything he could to make this biography come to life. and one of the important thing not to miss apart from performance are the dialogues, Dialogues are best part of the movie which will leave you mesmerized. Over all Manjhi is a must watch.

The bad part first: the direction of the movie, direction of photography casting (except Siddiqui), dialogs, acting (except siddiqui) are a black hole. Highly mediocre stuff. Music is inserted like being done on gunpoint. The whole project has been executed i a shoddy manner. I do not expect this from a team led by someone like Ketan Mehta. No cinematic excellence as such.The Good part now: Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a fine actor and he did pull the movie on his shoulders completely. Even after the best efforts of the director to spoil the movie, Siddiqui does not let Ketan take away the charm of the legend with him. Siddiqui remains the only good part of the movie. Way to go for this chap. he should think ten times before working for KEtan MEhta again.The legend lives on: One does not love the legend for this movie, one can just watch the movie since it is based on the legend. The movie did injustice to the legend and the legend of course set the base of this and maybe several documentaries like these. So in case one is interested in knowing the legend, better catch a good documentary about him rather than wasting time on this movie full of mediocre and amateur stuff.The rating: Of course, we Indians just like Americans, are an emotional lot. We, just like Americans, like to celebrate our mediocrity loudly. That's why the high ratings.

I would say it is the Indian version of Shawshank Redemption. Both these movies are amazing tributes to the indomitable human spirit and that is where the parallel ends. The setting and context are very different for the two movies.The love story provides a very nice context to narrate the story of how frail man surmounts all odds. The social issues of caste system, politics, corruption and the Indian indifferent attitude have been blended very nicely in the story which has taken inspiration from the life of protagonist Dasrath Majhi. There is an amazing simplicity in the entire narration with contextual comedy, scores at the right moment which maintain the tempo of the movie. I found it a gripping narration.Nawaz-ud-din Siddque has done justice to the character. In fact there are very few in Bollywood who could have pulled it off. He is sure growing in stature with every movie.I hope it gets a nomination for the Oscars in some category.

this movie is very good. and i think only NAWAZUDDIN SIDDIQI can do the role of MANJHI. and he is the soul of this movie. and I want to say thanks to Mr. KETAN MEHTA also. RADHIKA MAM is also looking good in the role of PHAGUNIYA. Tigmanshu Dhulia have also good acting in the role of MUKHIYA. MANJHI the mountain man very real movie. a character who broken the mountain for love. the love for his wife. the love for his villagers. and the love for his village. in the childhood, MANJHI is a normal man such as we. but when he got a painfully war on his mind. he is changed. very changed. and he broke the mountain. and we all should be the mountain man. i think every person to have watch this movie.
