Nope despite some of the feminist connotations to each of the short stories this is a movie meant for men who lust or atleast wished they could have lust-worthy sex-crazed indian women like Radhika Apte, Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar and Neha Dhupia.Don't let any official summary fool you into believing what this movie really is for. The movie targets the sexual fantasies of indian men towards women in particular roles they come across in life and society - sex with the hot teacher, hot maid, hot matrimonial match etc. There's no denying the power in the sexual appeals of Radhika, Kiara and Bhumi in their respective class acts. Ideally young hottie Nikita Dutta who plays the prospective bride in Zoya Akhtar's segment should've also been explored more. The movie is divided into 4 stories with the extremely unwatchable one being Dibakar Banerjee's. I can only imagine his segment was added in the midst of the movie to cool down temperatures or kill sexual moods that the movie does a great job of evoking from get-go. Overall watchable fare for most men who can ignore the forced representation and feministic tale-telling of supposed sexually confused, reserved, open indian women. Just watch it for the lovely women and nothing more!

The movie title should be named 4 lonely women in urban india. radhika apte as in previous movies picks up controversial roles and gets attention. The director forgets that teacher teaches in a college or university. other than sex, nothing else is mentioned. apte feels insecure when another girl comes in her student's life. no one else talks about them as if it is a usual relation. i think life of french president is more worthy of a film. while pednekar suits her role, i don't get what was it all about. then the part of koirala comes. then the next story, i don't think any teacher would talk to a parent like that. I give 2 stars because actors look professional, otherwise don't waste your time watching this. in a world where free porn is available 24x7 thanks to a big industry behind it. In the past we had films like devanand's guide, which talked about prostitute, yet here we are with the title lust stories, which is a clever use human trait of Curiosity to get attention, beyond that there is nothing in it. like many other terms in use today, "women sexuality" is only cliche, nothing more. Even in our epics, there is a discussion of women's sexuality. remember shurpanakha in ramayan, who overcome by lust even instigates ravan. ravan full with lust looses his empire, family and life. Whats the point of this film, other than marketing of netflix, to promote its big entry in india and to get more customers.

4 stories of flawed Indian women trying to live their life to the fullest in the patriarchal society that never let them be. Anurag kashyap's segment was pretty good with an amazing performance from Radhike Apte who also wrote it. It was a hilarious segment with her character who's always ranting one thing and doing the opposite to make things complicated, then there's the teacher student relationship in the mix. Zoya Akthar's segment captured the micro expressions of Bhumi Pednekar to showcase the exploitation of the lower class servants, something that has been used many times in Indian cinema but still the performance and the direction makes it fresh. Dibakar Banarjee's segment is my favourite among the lot which portrays the complex relationships amid a failing but not breaking marriage and the friendship that gets in the line. Karan Johar made his segment breaking his own methods used for years and making fun of his old films to show how stupid and oppressive the ideal families shown in his old films are really.
