Comical as well as romantic comedy is loaded with irony , slapdash , humor with tongue-in-cheek , jokes , rapid flashes , thrilling choreography , funny situations and with a distinctly Spanish sense of style . Fun comedy with romantic touches and full of entertainment , humor and sheer amusement . The story takes place in Bilbao , and its airport called Sondica where we find Sergio (Unax Ugalde) and Bea (Alexandra Jimenez) , a couple newly separated . Sergio is still in love with Bea, but they seem to have an uncertain future . Bea is going to Germany to work , and Sergio is going to Ciudad Real. The couple has to endure the cancellation of their respective flights because the airport has been cancelled due to storm and snow ; it has made impossible to have an ordinary voyage . They then have to stay at nearby hotel . Later on , Sergio has been spotted by Juan Carlos (Julian Lopez), whom he doesn't remember , that was allegedly his school friend . As Juan Carlos along with Juanan (Secun de la Rosa) attempt to rekindle the broken relationship between Bea and Sergio . But then it appears Ernesto (Miguel Ángel Muñoz) , Bea's recent boyfriend and the events get worse . Nothing should be taken at face-value ; nothing should be taken seriously .This is another Spanish typical comedy, it is a funny film that contains lots of humor , entertainment and fun . This is a slightly bemusing film with entertaining events , giggles , emotion and an agreeable love story . Humor is sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous picaresque situations such as sex jokes , slapstick and absurd scenes . The film explores the relationship among a motley quartet and their triangular love story , being well played by top-notch actors . However , it moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable, with more traps the viewer resists any kind, and some moments of enjoyment and others quite a few embarrassing ; so, the tone of the film is light-hearted and the most part results to be rich in implausibilities . This is a 2010 typical Spanish comedy with the usual ingredients such as enjoyable humor topped with a little bit of original touches here and there ; including mayhem , parties , Christmas celebration and a lot of fun . The main issue about the continuous meetings and ongoings disagreements between the protagonists and their intertwined loves , it is so repetitive and that makes it a little tiring . The picture benefits a good cast as Unax Ugalde and Alexandra Jimenez , along with Secun De la Rosa , Marivi Bilbao , Alfredo Villa , Ramon Barea who round out the protagonist duo . Special mention to Julian Lopez as a pesky guy , he steals the show as as a humorist who often gets into trouble with his new friend so that he can get to regain his former love . My feelings are extremely mixed but I must admit there are things I haven't been able to stop thinking about , the movie is played mostly for laughs as the boy get into scrapes trying to score with the girl . A few of the scenes are amusing , they elicit chuckles but no serious laughter . The picture attempts to spread optimism about the events of life , friendship and love , including its amusing sides . The roles in this film are all lovable despite being rather pathetic and silly . Atmospheric musical score , adding catching and nostalgic songs such as ¨No Controles¨. Colorful cinematography by Aitor Mantxola , a good director of photography who has photographed successful pictures such as Lisboa , Bon appetit , Butterfly wings and El Juego De Verdad . The motion picture was well written and directed by Borja Cobeaga . He was born in 1977 in Donostia-San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, País Vasco, where usually shoots his movies . He is a writer and filmmaker , known for Pagafantas (2009), Éramos Pocos (2005) and Negociador (2014) and he wrote the biggest hit in history of the Spanish cinema : 8 Apellidos Vascos .
... View MoreDirector Borja Cobeaga who had a big hit with his previous film, "Pagafantas" is at it again. This time he brings the action to Bilbao, where Sergio and Bea, a couple that is pretending to be together for the sake of appearances, have decided to part ways. Bea will go to Germany to work with her father in the family restaurant, and Sergio, back to Madrid to an uncertain future. He is still in love with Bea, but it seems a lost cause. The couple has to endure the cancellation of their respective flights because the airport closes as snow has made it impossible to have a normal schedule. Sergio has been spotted by a pesky guy, Juan Carlitros, whom he dos not remember, that was supposedly his elementary school friend. This man proceeds to annoy Sergio when he takes it upon himself to fix the broken relationship with Bea.In a way, the film kept reminding us of a much better, "Planes, Trains and Automobiles", where the John Candy character was making a nuisance out of himself because deep down he had no life. The same thing happened to us with the way Julian Lopez played his role. Unax Ugalde and Alexandra Jimenez do what they can in a film that will not add anything to their film careers. And as for director Borja Cobeaga, better luck next time.
... View MoreBorja Cobeága debuted in 2009 with the unmissable "Pagafantas", a romantic comedy about unrequited love which turned into one of the best films of that year. Now he returns with another romantic comedy which will not disappoint the ones who loved "pagafantas". "No controles", which takes its name of an 80's electro-pop song that became an absolute hit in Spain, tells once again a story of unrequited love though here the main character still has a chance of getting (regetting, I should say) the girl of his dreams. The film also deals with the troubles of a comedian who is not really funny (the wonderful character Juan Carlitros). The film takes place in a hotel where the characters are forced to spend the night after their flight has been cancelled due to snow. One night in which our hero will have to regain the love of his ex-girlfriend.
