Generally I love the way French film makers look at love and romance. This movie proves that romantic fare does not have to drip with sugar, but can be light-hearted and fun. It also shows that full-on action is no requirement for setting the mood. The "kissing-chase" must be one of the most unconventional romantic scenes that I have seen in a movie, only rivaled by the "kissing-instructions" in Amelie. The movie has quite a few unexpected gem-moments, for example the bathroom scene in the nightclub, where the lead actress is caught between to would-be model types preening in front of the mirror. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie!
... View MoreHi, all from the other side of the continent at nearly midnight, on our foreign film free channel I just watched "laisse tes main sur mes hanches" or like my TV guide says in English "leave your hands on my heaps) I'm 63 and was a fan of Salvador Adamo (a french singer of my era) and even in English I had to guess it had to do something with him since these words are also the tittle of one of his best known song. Initially I was wondering what hit me having left France at 27 and not up to date with the mode of living there. But the romantic side of the story soon won me over and I had an enjoyable time. I did not know De Palma and have some difficulty with her image. But this is just me. On this side of the world I do appreciate french films that anyway have a reasonable popularity in Sydney MB
... View MoreI really had a good time watching this movie. It started by getting me into a good laugh very early, and then more subtle humor was delivered, well mixed with the romantic plot. A very fresh look at an unexpected love story. Well acted, great scenario, and good sense of humor delivered with a warm heart, what else do you want?
