"Last of The Dogmen" was and is the most outstanding performance Mr. Bergen has given in his career. As an audience member I really felt he WAS the character he portrayed. He has been in so many great films, but as I have watched this one 23 times, this is how I know he is great in the film and the film is great because each time is like watching for the first time, so excited and holding my breath! He makes you feel as if this is something that could happen right now today!! To me,which I know means very little, Your performance Sir, should receive the Academy Award. You are truly amazing in your career and The Father has Blessed you. Again, thank you and wish there would be part 2 of this film. God Bless. A Fan of all Your Films, Charlie

I love this film. The stunning locations and acting performances were superb. I have been an admirer of Barbara Hershey since her days as one of 'the Munroes' and in this film she does not disappoint. I met Tom Berenger when he came to Belfast and he seemed to be as grumpy a character as the one he portrays in the film. We are very similar that way! I remember reading about a group of native Americans who were not discovered until 1910 in northern California. The idea of a lost tribe being discovered grabs the imagination. I knew something of the background of the Cheyenne tribe from reading 'Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee' and this is related in the film. I have watched the DVD many times and never get tired of it. There are so few films I can say that about.

When Berringers character press the lovely professor for info, she spells out a long, sad tale about how the Dogmen ended up N. MT. Unfortunately, she conflates two different incidents from two different tribes. Black Kettle's Cheyennes were massacred at Sand Creek, CO but she adds in many details from the massacre of Big Foot's Miniconjou Sioux at Wounded Knee Creek in S. Dakota, plus a dash of storytelling. Anyone who knows anything about Western History would have caught this one. I think Hollywood needs to either go all factual or all fiction. Mixing the two make for confused people and we don't need any more of those. I agree that Wilfred Brimley's voice over sucks, but the scenery is spectacular. Berringer and Hersey are excellent and "Red Foreman" as the villain is pretty good. He and Berringer actually look great in their Cowboy hats, also. Usually actors pick the wrong hat for themselves and don't realize how dumb they look.

This is a movie that you will stop and watch every time it shows on TV: IF you have a true romantic spirit and love an outdoor action movie. The first sentence says it all, but let me say that the actors are well matched and the chemistry is great. I recently spent some time in Western Vancouver Island and was struck by the scenery and immediately thought of this movie and the beautiful backdrop in every scene. It is truly a beautiful movie.I am not a movie critic and as you probably can tell, this is my first, impromptu attempt to recommend a movie. It is a story about an itinerate cowboy and a secret that he stumbles across while tracking some runaway convicts. The story line has many facets that unfold as the cowboy becomes entangled in the secret that he uncovers.
