As one of the cheap, mediocre and predictable productions in which a character looks for something unfulfilled, the movie doesn't offer a plot with high quality. It is easy to foresee what is going to come soon. The actors do just fine, but the plot does not give them a chance to show a real talent. Everything is there; very easy to see. When a woman is left with the desire and, what is worse- if a woman tastes a glimpse of pleasure with someone else, her mind is often fixated on that other man. This is the whole story. In short, one can say that it is hard to hold back urges. So, keep your man or woman satisfied. Otherwise, you wouldn't understand how fast things can get out of hand. If you are looking for some nudity and a chance to enjoy some Spanish, this is one option, but a cheap one.
... View MoreAda, a violinist with a string quartet, is an unfulfilled woman. She has not had an orgasm in her life, and wonders what it would be like to experience one. Going back to her early school days, when she was a popular girl with a lot of friends, now finds herself as an adult longing for that type of experience. She gets not one, but two opportunities to find out, when she runs into Luis, a former classmate, now a popular television host. Luis takes her to a sex club where "live performances" by a couple on stage, intrigues her. Another act by a clown reveals another childhood friend, Lorenzo, who is making ends meet working as a clown. Will Ada finally get to act on her wild imagination? Well, yes, and no!The comedy, directed by Emilio Martinez Lazaro, who co-wrote the screenplay with Daniela Fejerman, goes for the easy laugh, targeting it to a probably local audience that goes for this kind of entertainment. The premise does not ring true from beginning to end. Veronica Sanchez, who plays Ada, has some good moments. The Lorenzo of Ernesto Alterio does not ring true. Added to that, his excessive makeup, highlighted by black eyeliner, would probably be a turn off for any prospective bed mates. Alberto San Juan does what he can with a role that does not add much to his career. Best of all, Luis Bermejo seen as the neighbor who is shocked by the noise coming out of the apartment across the hall. No wonder he repairs to the kitchen to bake his pastries.
... View MoreA few years ago, Martinez Lazaro release musical called "THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BED" a huge success in Spain and besides several technical problems, the movie was a brilliant, political incorrect, but very sincere look at couples relation. A couple of years later, he made a follow keeping only the male characters; but never reached the mix of fun and drama over reality of the first one. Now, and probably compensating women, Lazaro with Daniela Féjerman create a somewhat similar situation, an apparently frigid woman looking for love and sexual pleasure that finally gets an asexual but sweet man she falls in love with; only to fall to the sexual charms of his nutcase friend.Acting goes from excellent for Alterio and San Juan (both get) to very good for Veronica Sanchez as the woman in a complex situation she tries to correct but cannot control.Do not expect again political correctness here. There is plenty of nudity and the sexual scenes while brief and far from hardcore, get sometimes very realistic. In brief; still not as good and funny as "THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BED", but the best romance movie this year.
