Kickassia Trailers

Kickassia is a six-part feature-length original online film created by Doug Walker and the rest of the gang at Channel Awesome (including the Nostalgia Chick, Linkara, Spoony, the Cinema Snob, Marz Gurl, and Angry Joe) in honor of the site's second anniversary. The plot concerns the Nostalgia Critic, eager to own his very own country, deciding to organize an assault on the Republic of Molossia a one-acre independent nation within the continental United States and usurp its president, Kevin Baugh. Hilarity, as well as movie references and heavy artillery, ensue.

People are being far too harsh on this film! It is meant to be one big joke. Kickassia is movie written out of clichés that are present in the movies, shows and video games the people of TGWTG review.Costumes that are worse than the ones found at Spencer's, obviously simple solutions ignored in favor of more complicated plans, women who are competent suddenly turning into damsels in distress, these things are all in the movie. You think its a coincidence that these also happen to be things that The Critic rants about? They made a movie they would rip apart in their reviews, that's the joke! I saw it as basically one big wink to the fans.If you're looking for something that is Oscar worthy then maybe you shouldn't be looking for it in an online movie made to be silly!

First off...let me say that I am a fan of everyone on TGWTG. I try to watch every new video that comes out of the site but alas it can be daunting at times. The Nostalgia critic, Cinema Snob, Spoony One and so on. That being said here is what I think - - -This is a film made for the fans of the site and reviewers. The comedy, Jokes and writing in general is great for what it is. Cameos, dialog and so on! The cinematography for the budget and camera is great (not that I even have a camera even close to that) and the music really fits the scenes! There are people here on IMDb who are rating this like its a Hollywood film or something made for a general audience...WHY!!! Obviously your not going to get all the jokes and cameos if your not familiar with the characters and in jokes from TGWTG. The plot of the film works quit well and how the characters execute it is priceless. All of the individual actors get enough time to develop there rolls, and show off there "powers". The editing and sound design I feel could have been a little better done but I guess in order to avoid that stupid not cool (insert swear here) copyright crap! what Mr. Walker did use worked good. In the end...the story is fun and funny and there are plenty of jokes for the fans. I can see if you are not a big fan of TGWTG not liking the film but don't discredit the film if you don't get it. Watch some episodes and get to know the people behind TGWTG because I have to tell you...they care about what they do, film, and make more than most Hollywood people and directors out there that make millions of $.

Kickassia stars many contributors from the TGWTG website and popular online personalities. Fans or people familiar with these personalities will understand the in jokes and gags used in the film. To people who have never seen any online reviews or who are not familiar with the personalities the film will seem confusing and probably unfunny. The fans of the TGWTG crew will like this film as it delivers well in terms of fan service. I, myself am an avid watcher of web shows and I particularly like TGWTG, I am pleased to say that I enjoyed this film. I feel that a lot of effort was put into this production and it shows the fans that the contributors of the website do care and are appreciative of the support the fans have shown. I understand that it must have been very difficult to gather the contributors and meet up for a certain date ,place and time to film especially because many of them come from different countries (for e.g. Benzaie - France , Film Brain - Britain , Phelous - Canada etc ). A lot of the gags are silly but entertaining and there are references to past reviews and videos which is a nice little nod to the fans. It seems that most of the reviews on here for Kickassia seem to be critiquing Kickassia but treating it as a stand alone film when really it should be seen as an extended fan service type of video more than anything. It's target audience (fans) will love it but others who are unfamiliar with the aforementioned videos and reviews may not enjoy it. Also I think it is ridiculous that some reviewers on here are criticising the production values and quality of cameras etc, its a FREE online film, it is not a Hollywood blockbuster! Anyway I found it funny and entertaining and would certainly watch Kickassia again.

Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic) and the rest of the reviewers from ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com come together in a collaboration for their first full length film comedy. As a result, any inside jokes referencing reviews will go over a new comer's head. I for one, only watch Doug Walker's videos and Lindsey Ellis' (nostalgia chick). The story itself is very silly and over the top, but seems to be missing the pacing energy of a comedy. One must always remember that this is a movie with no budget and made by a bunch of internet amateurs. The story begins with Doug Walker decided to take over a one acre land called Molassia, which is apparently ruled by one man who dresses in an army uniform. They're is no acknowledgment of the fact that the man could just call the police to get rid of an army of internet geeks running around the land, or the fact that once these internet geeks aren't ruling over anything after taking over Molassia since it doesn't have any citizens. This is a very ridiculous premise that's funny at first, but the movie provides no pay off and milks down the joke. Doug Walker and his team take over Mollassia by an ambush and rename it Kickassia. The ruler of Molassia disguises himself as another person to avoid fighting with the ThatGuyWithTheGlasses team. Doug Walker rules Kickassia with plans to take over the neighbor hood and later Navada. Doug Walker, Film brain and Spoony deliver a delightful over the top performance, while the rest of the cast (15 people) are either hardly in the movie, or are forgettable. The best way to see if a comedy is really funny, is if I remember it afterwords. For example, there are several very funny moments in Nostalgia Critic reviews that I always remember, and I will often think of at random times of the day. The running joke that supplies the movie, is that several scenes are played out serious, but contain a line breaking the mood, or are serious while being over the top. This is a good idea, but doesn't work in a movie as long as Kickassia. Every scene is trying to be funny for the same reason, and uses the same comedy strategy that after the first half of Kickassia, becomes tiring. Bottom line, there just weren't many laughs during the movie. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. In fact, I had no idea there was going to be a full length collaboration as an anniversary. I didn't even know TGWTG was doing an anniversary video until I saw the video with Doug raping Ma-Tia (boy that sounded strange to type). So I virtually had no expectations at all. I was just hoping to be entertained and laugh, and the movie didn't deliver very much of that. I laugh more times watching Nostalgia Critic reviews then Kickassia.
