Himesh felt he can be an actor, after the popularity he got as a singer His own music album director decided to make a film AAP KA SUROOR(title too of the album) fine Then the film worked at the box office, So now Himesh felt he should remake KARZ(1980) and get successfulThe promos kept showing his nasal songs, all sounding the same, nothing as g8 as the ones in KARZ Then there started showing some b grade style scenes in promos Himesh was overconfident that the film will be a success he as always went on events and promoted the film and made some fake comments to the mediaThe film released and luckily bombedThe film starts off with Dino Morea in place of the annoying Raj Kiran of KARZ, then we r introduced to Kamini played by Urmila and a rather funny take off on Prem Nath of the original by Gulshan grover who has a metallic arm instead of the glass in the originalThe film moves on, dino killed, cut to Himesh being re- born with a stage song and damn!! The first half is as lifeless as AAP KA SUROOR and then the only twist where Himesh tells urmila that he is Ravi Verma that too falls flat thanks to himesh's awkward acting The film is as boring as a 80's b grade film of Mithun Satish Kaushik ruins the remake, with every cliché possible thrown in Music(HR) is okay, but excess of nasal tone spoils it, EK HASEENA THI falls flat Cinematography is one of it's assets Performances Himesh went off his cap and came with a Japanese wig, The rest, well he plays a superstar like in AKS here too in the initial reels but when his character gets serious he acts like he is acting in a stage play, he is too bad his expressions when he conveys sorrow, pain, anger are such a joke The heroine is pure wood except those eyes Urmila doesn't age in the film, a big drawback her acting is unintentionally funny at places and alright at places Danny is a sore point, he doesn't impress and gets to the nerves Gulshan Grover keeps doing his madness Raj Babbar, Bhaktyar Irani have no scope Rohini Hattangudy is theatrical

Agreed that the movie is awful. But i don't think this is because of Himesh. I could see i huge improvement in his acting and body language. The fault lies in Satish Kaushiks direction. THE director of Tere naam, one of my favorite movies. How could he humiliate a classic like Karz? And that too so badly! Double thumbs down for mr. Kaushik. Everything just lacked in his direction. Song placement, screenplay, humor level, cast. Himesh is the only surprise in the movie, Urmila is good of course, but she should have signed this movie. Shweta Kumar has no scope and looks kind of stupid, guess u don't need talent if you are a starkid.Music is good though. Cinematography was good. Background score was a bit overdone (too loud). I would say the biggest flaw in this movie was the screenplay. To tell a good story you need good screenplay. Otherwise the story (which can be damn good) will look like a mess which was the case with Karzzzz.Himesh - 8/10 Urmila - 9/10 Shweta - 5/10 Satish - 1/10Danny - 7/10 Gulshan - (had no freaking scope man!) - 3/10 Dino Morea (Very impactful) - 10/10

Let's get one thing straight. And this is very, very important and one shouldn't overlook this fact. This is a masala film; the makers never ever promised new-age cinema. Given the fact that KARZZZZ talks of reincarnation, plus there's a dash of mythology, as also everything that goes into the making of an entertainer, just don't expect anything path-breaking from KARZZZZ. Also, don't expect KARZZZZ to pander to the tastes of the multiplex junta. Himesh may not have the charisma of SRK, he may not be talented like Aamir, he may not be dashing and debonair as Salman and Akshay, but you can't turn your eyes away from the fact that he has oodles of confidence and that makes the job easier. Also, comparisons with Rishi Kapoor are inevitable. Well, Rishi Kapoor was matchless and KARZ continues to remain a shining medal to this date, but even the harshest of critics would agree that Himesh is here to stay. The Music is Fantastic and Himesh is the one to carry this film Urmilla is great and newcomer Shweta Kumar is pretty but she doesn't get enough of a role. Overall Karzzzz lives up to the hype and go and watch it right now

Some people did not like the idea of Himesh Reshammiya playing the part made famous by Rishi Kapoor, this remake has a lot going for it because the original is supposed to be really good (although I've not seen it). Himesh has worked on some of the original songs and adding new ones. Another reason why this film had so much hype is because to see Urmila Matondkar, who plays the villainous role originally done by Simi Garewal. I intended to see it because I like Himesh and his music. It is directed by Satish Kaushik and he always took Himesh to compose music for his previous films and this time he is taking him for the lead role. The film wasn't bad but not that good either. The story was good but wasn't entertaining or exciting. After watching it I figured out that Om Shanti Om was inspired by the original Karz and that was a lot better than this remake. Remakes don't bother me but I felt that this one was not needed because we already had Om Shanti Om last year. The music is good, the best songs are Ek Hasina Thi & Tandoori Nights and the worst is Hari Om. Overall I won't recommend it to those who don't like Himesh or/and has seen Om Shanti Om. So far the best remake is Don.
