This movie is a good updated version of Duel. A guy springs his brother from jail and is on his way to pick up his female friend when they pull a trick on a trucker with the handle "Rusty Nail." They make him think he's meeting a woman named "Candy Cane" (the handle they use) at a motel. Unfortunately, the trucker turns out to be a bit "off his rocker" and turns the tables on them and follows them all over the highways with some "tricks" of his own.My favorite scenes are where Rusty Nail calls them at the hotel, where he drives them off the road, the scene at the diner, and the tense motel scene at the end. This was a good, tense action movie with a good vocal performance by the actor as Rusty Nail.*** out of ****

Upon discovering that a young woman he likes named "Venna" (Leelee Sobieski) has just split up with her boyfriend, "Lewis" (Paul Walker) offers to drive from California to Colorado so that they can travel together to their hometown in New Jersey. But first he has to swing by Utah to pick up his brother "Fuller" (Steve Zahn) who has just gotten in trouble and is due to get out of jail soon. That being said, after picking his brother up in Utah, Fuller buys a CB radio and on the way the two of them decide to play a prank on a trucker by having Lewis pretend to be a female and inviting the trucker to a hotel room--which happens to be occupied by a complete jerk they encountered in the lobby. Not long afterward, the person in the hotel room is almost beaten to death which requires the police to investigate the two of them as potential suspects. Although they confess to the police about their practical joke and are subsequently released, rather than letting the matter drop they once again anger the truck driver on their CB who now becomes obsessed with trying to kill them—but upon picking up Venna she becomes as much of a target as they are. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was a suspenseful movie which began to lose more and more credibility the longer it ran. The principle reasons for this was because the trucker not only seemed to be able to appear in more than one place at a time but he was also capable of anticipating everything in advance. It just wasn't realistic. Despite all of that, I thought that the suspense was adequate enough to carry this film and for that reason I have rated it accordingly. Average.

This is an amazing film in the genre of suspense - this is one reason I love some movies: climax of some human senses - I admit that the first time I saw the movie (about 12 or 13 years ago) , it was for me an experience full of suspense, fear and adrenaline: pure entertainment in two words - the plot seems simple: a joke in the CB radio to an unknown trucker (with an amazing voice) leads to an endless living nightmare for our 'heroes' in the film - this experience they 'll live (and we live with them) will not be so simple ... be careful because you never know with whom you may talking to ! Well , there is no need to learn here more for the plot , the issue is simple for the lovers of this genre : if you have not seen it yet (and I envy you very much for that!), you should immediately find it , rent it and watch it or much better buy it and keep it at home (because surely you 'll want to watch it again and again...) . Enjoy !!!

En route to pick up a friend (the gorgeous Leelee Sobieski) the late Paul Walker (pre his Fast & The Furious fame) and Steve Zahn play a prank using a CB radio on a truck driver, unaware of the murderous lengths he will go to to get his revenge. I'm not normally a fan of these types of movies, but nothing else was on TV, so I decided to give it a go and I'm glad I did.It reminded me a lot of Duel (Steven Spielberg's first movie, starring Dennis Weaver being pursued by a manic truck driver) which I was a big fan of growing upPaul Walker is certainly a good looking guy, and Zahn is perfectly cast as his troublesome older brother, but it's Sobieski I remembered long after that movie ended. And it is not just because she is an obviously talented actress, she is. It's because she seemed to spend the entire movie with permanently erect nipples, after making the mistake of going bra less for most of the movie. It's not like me to complain over such things (and I certainly didn't object to spending my time staring at her) but I found it distracting, and it took a bit away from the movie. I loved the cliffhanger ending too.
