Journey to the Center of the Earth Trailers

This made-for-TV film version uses the title and general premise of Jules Verne's novel, but had its heroes carry out the journey in an earth-penetrating machine. A television series was supposed to follow, but was never produced. Cast includes John Neville, F. Murray Abraham and Kim Miyori.

This movie was OK. I moved rather slowly in pace, but then a lot of movies from the 90's did. The acting was decent, however not perfect. I could tell the actors were trying. The story was pretty good, but the effects were low budget. The ending isn't a very concluding (they're still stuck down in the middle of the earth). I can understand why, because this was supposed to be the pilot for a T.V. series. Sadly it didn't fly beyond that.I actually like the film. It has some of my favorite actors in it and the story/writing was pretty good. Like I said though it's not perfect, it's not even up to par with the other Journey movies, but it's still OK.

I watched it, despite it being appalling. I was at least waiting to see they they resolved everything and managed to return to the surface. Then the film ended. All still unresolved and underground.Apparently it was a feature length pilot so they were just setting the scene for a series to follow.Needless to say no-one bought it and the series was never made.It was bad. They spent about £1.25 on the musical score, most of that was rental on a bad synthesiser on which they pressed the dramatic sci-fi chords button. The acting wasn't terrible, and the yeti character looked quite convincing. But the special effects were feeble. But the worst aspects of the film are the plot and the script. Truly abysmal!

This was a piece, and not a good one. The 'updating' was stupid. The moronic synthesizer was lame, and nothing even close to what was needed. Of course, with what was on the screen, maybe it was the best inspiration that the composer could get, OR, the budget could afford. To have taken what Verne wrote and stayed with that context would have been excellent. This is more like something from Edgar Rice Borroughs, and a really poor attempt at his work. I guess that if you were four years old in 1993 and knew nothing better, this would be a good show. However...... Oh, and the constant narrative by the "hero" was annoying. It would be good to heed the advise of all the others (and me) and pass on this one. You won't regret missing this one.

Really from 1993?! The special effects indicate that it could be an end of 60's movie. Awful creatures. Bad "Drilling machine" that look like some enormous Phallus. The evil fish looks like some candy children eat, and the worst of all must be the effect/spiral they use to go from one scene to another. This guy should never be allowed to make any movies, unless it was meant as some bad joke.
