A film about the world's most dedicated Star Wars fans. From lightsaber wielding martial arts academies to a filmmaker who built the world's only life-size Millennium Falcon, from a Monster Garage-esque sculptor whose professional livelihood is building custom lightsabers to metal-bikini wearing dancers who embody Slave Leia, the film offers viewers a rare glimpse into rabid fans' personal and professional self expression that borders on obsession.

This "documentary" is scary, not in a good way. It's like this, say you're a big fan of something in the high school days and that incessantly annoying kid in class starts wearing the t-shirts, asking you repetitive questions about the thing, blurting out lines randomly, etc. When things are obvious, and you know that he/she is just doing it to try to be your friend or for an even deeper/darker motivation that makes you cringe. So, yeah, this "documentary" is kind of like that. You feel like abandoning the love you have for the thing because you can't escape the weirdos ruining it for you. It is a sad thing. It's not the embodiment of "the force" but "the farce".This program also displays a few of those types of individuals who you know just buy a ton of whatever they are a "fan of" just to show it all in excess later. It's like those kids who shove everything "geek" they own under-the-sun into one corner of their rooms just to use it as a backdrop for a YouTube video. Somebody should make a parody of it, yet it already is one. Create a parody of a parody then. Jedi Junkies is lazy and weird. Plus it has Olivia M. in it saying something that does not make sense that does not help the piece backtrack out of anything that made you cringe at previously. For the folks out there who are fans of bad movies and lazy weirdness, go for it. I rated this piece a 2 out of 10 because I liked seeing some of the different retro Star Wars toys, but I dislike Ed Sanchez for various reasons.

As I watched this documentary about obsessed Star Wars fans, I kept thinking back to the hilarious William Shatner skit on "Saturday Night Live" where he was addressing a Trek convention and he told them to 'get a life'! This is exactly what I thought about many of these Star Wars nuts. Much of it looked like harmless fun, but some of these folks seemed a bit scary--as if they thought the films might just be real! However, this sort of film addiction makes for fascinating viewing from a psychological/sociological point of view (though who am I to talk--I've done over 15,000 reviews on IMDb!).I've actually watched several documentaries about Star Wars and Star Wars fans and some of them were great and several were pretty much a waste of time. The great ones looked for patterns or deeper meaning to the passion. These films also showed fans who had fun and the fans who lost all perspective and it's not fun any more--as it's become a sickness. And, the bad documentaries are ones that have no critical analysis and just say that these are ALL healthy and normal folks (such as in "Trekkies"). Well, "Jedi Junkies" falls in the former category. Although most of it is devoted to folks just having silly fun, a bit of the documentary is about obsession--and features a couple psychotherapists discussing this. I was particularly impressed with the die-hard obsessed collectors who was imploring folks NOT to do what he's done, as he's recognizing that it's no longer fun but it controls his life.Overall, a reasonably balanced and interesting show. Certainly NOT a must-see, though I loved seeing the guys who made the Chad Vader films--they are hilarious (whether you are a Star Wars fan or not).

This is a documentary about people that have mostly gone overboard with their Star Wars obsession.Reason I am giving it a 1 is because it is movie that was stretched to increase duration, there are not enough different people in it, and selections made on who to include leave lot to be desired. What could have been movie about 20-30 people turned out to be movie about basically three very extreme people, with lot of repeating same things over and over, which got boring rather quickly. One guy has bunch of Star Wars related tattoos, one girl that is already quasi-stripper with her burlesque act does her act dressed as Leia slave, and one guy had bad version of Millennium Falcon built out of wood in his backyard that broke shortly after.Very, very boring movie.

I really liked this movie. It's very funny and very sexy. It's a movie about some really passionate Star Wars fans. There's the guy who built a life size Millennium Falcon in his backyard. Love that. (There's actually a pretty reasonable reason he did that. Really there is.) There's the NY Jedi – a group of fans who practice their light saber skills. There's the group of women who dress up like Leia in her metal bikini. There's the band AeroSith who create Star Wars inspired music. And, of course, there's a bunch of celebs talking about their love of Star Wars.Olivia Munn is her usual sexy and funny self.Ray Park, Peter Mayhew and Jeremy Bulloch also give interviews. They are the guys who played Darth Maul, Chewbaca and Boba Fett. And Ed Sanchez – director of Blair Witch – shows his massive Star Wars toy collection. You don't have to be a hard core Star Wars fan to enjoy the movie. (Of course, it helps.) I highly recommend the movie.
