Invasion Roswell Trailers

After the American Army shot down a UFO in 1947, generations of elite commandos were secretly trained to deal with the aliens' feared return. However, the extra-terrestrials never came back and the elite force was disbanded. Sixty-six years after the Roswell crash, the aliens are invading Earth and only the over-the-hill retired commandos can stop them.

I guess we expect SciFi (Sorry – I CANNOT call it "SyFy") channel's offerings to be low budget, which means unimpressive SFX/CGI, and this is no exception. They have to work to a budget, so we have to accept that the effects won't look like Star Wars or Jurassic Park. However, what I can't forgive is acting that ranges from indifferent (Greg Evigan and Denise Crosby) to low grade prep school drama group amateur (pretty much the rest of the cast). Worse, the script was a joke. I think it was the late great Sam Goldwyn who once said of a script he was presented with "I could eat alphabetti spaghetti and puke a better script than this". Had he said this of this script, he would have been being kind to them. That just about sums up this film!

Not completely terrible. The best aspect is the acting which is reasonably good, especially from Greg Evigan and Denise Crosby. Their general professionalism however deserved a much better movie. The photography, editing and the way it's shot is hardly incompetent though their quality's not particularly note-worthy. The special effects is a good starting point to why Invasion Roswell is not a good movie, at best they're laughable and unfinished-looking. And let's not get started on the alien weapons, I do agree that they look like children's toys. The story is not involving at all, that it's so predictable that you can smell the ending a mile away is one thing but there's also very little fun, suspenseful or thrilling on display, there are moments but they are too far and between. The dialogue is painfully under-written and trite, the direction is completely flat and the characters are little more than ciphers that don't do much of a good job moving the story forward. The aliens are not much of a threat, very lacking in personality and presence. Overall, not terrible or a disaster but dull and pretty poor, the acting is pretty much the only good thing about it. 3/10 Bethany Cox

Invasion Roswell (2013) ** (out of 4) Mildly entertaining low-budget film from SyFy. The plot itself is pretty simple. An elite group of alien fighters are forced into retirement because the jerk higher up feels there won't be an alien invasion. A short time after that the aliens do attack. The elderly alien fighters decide to team back up to go after the green men. INVASION ROSWELL isn't going to be mistaken for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL but if you enjoy this type of low-budget film then this one here offers a few fun things. As you'd expect, the special effects are pretty bad from start to finish and in fact a few of the earlier ones seem to have been a tribute to the visual style of an Atari game. The effects are laughable at times but then again you don't really watch these type of films expecting ground-breaking work. The two most familiar names in the cast are going to be Denise Crosby (PET SEMETERY) and Greg Evigan and both of them offer up good performances but so do the rest of the cast members. The performances were certainly a lot better than you'd see in this type of film. The biggest problem with the movie is that there's just not enough fun. The film starts off pretty well as we see the alien attack a man by blowing his head off but this type of effect really isn't seen again. There certainly aren't enough invasion scenes and there's just not much going on here to really draw you into the film. INVASION ROSWELL is slightly entertaining as long as you don't take it too serious but at the same time there's no question that more could have been done with it.

After a 1947 Roswell, New Mexico alien attack, the US has kept a top secret crew of five individuals trained in fighting off another invasion. Because the crew was getting old and the aliens did not return, they were forcibly retired. Seven years later, the aliens are coming back. Big, ugly spaceships hover over Earth's largest cities. These aliens are not shy. A newscaster reveals the alien race is "bent on our destruction!" After seeing the "Breaking News" on television, burly Greg Evigan (as Patrick Conte) is assaulted by a human-like form in a metal-like spacesuit. Fortunately for Mr. Evigan, he has an occasionally bluish glowing object which seems to scare the attacker back into its spaceship...Evigan decides, "I have to get the team back together." First, he locates seemingly loony John Francis (as George), who frets about an anal probe but often seems willing to drop trou for more action. Next re-recruited are gun-collecting Clarence Smith (as Tweety) and cowboy-type hunter Daniel Hugh Kelly (as David). Smart graying blonde Denise Crosby (as Linda) rounds out the quintet. One of the only sensible things we learn is that 66 years isn't such a long time between visits, considering the number of light-years the extra-terrestrials must be traveling. Apparently, the aliens have watched the "Star Wars" film series with much admiration. "Invasion Roswell" otherwise makes only a little sense.** Invasion Roswell (8/8/13) David Flores ~ Greg Evigan, Denise Crosby, John Francis, David Hugh Kelly
