This came in a multi pack dvd with some garbage movies like Prophecy (Christopher Walkin) and Howling IV. So, I was not expecting much, except maybe some laugher. No laughter to be found here. What we have is a young man, who's parents were killed, working in the library, who happens to be interested in watching and stalking people, even going into their homes. He is befriended by a cute/punk chick that he was stalking. He then stalks a couple by going into their house. He is discovered and they befriend him rather than calling the cops. Apparently the couple's son died a year before. He spends the night on the couch after watching TV. When he leaves he gets run over by a hit and run driver. The couple take him in, both legs busted, and nurse him. The couple at first, especially the wife, are very friendly and just want to befriend this young man. But then the wife thinks he is their dead son returned. The husband doesn't buy into that at first, but he too also believes he is his son. After a few days they treat him like he is their son. The guy realized these people are nuts and just wants to leave. Tons of tension. It is well acted. And the screenplay is decent. It's low budget and the video quality shows. It played out that possibly the kid was the one that was sick, maybe amnesia. If it wasn't for the grave beneath the one they buried him in, this mystery may have continued to the end. Rather than the punk chick rescuing him at the end, I guess a better ending may have been if the kid got out of the grave somehow and killed the wife and husband. And we find out that they were not really crazy, that he was really their kid. Hey, just an idea. But as it's shown, this is a good movie. If you can go past the low budget video production.Rating C, or 6 stars.
... View MoreI stumbled across this film at a video store, and decided to watch it. I absolutely adored it, flaws and all.The film is not really for someone looking for a gory slasher movie; it's more a psychological drama/thriller about three emotionally damaged people who never quite dealt with issues that they needed to deal with. I thought the actors in this film were absolutely riveting, especially Nick D'Agosto and Cheryl White. It's a slow-moving film; which adds to the palpable tension all throughout, and I like that it keeps you guessing while feeling firmly grounded in reality. The characters were deep and three-dimensional, and it was fascinating to watch their psychological neuroses unfold on screen to what I believed was a satisfying climax.
... View MoreThis film was extraordinary in its solidarity and intrigue. The performances are great all around, the events were harrowing, and most of all, the story is a complete, together exploration of the psychological consequences of loss. Now pretentious babble aside, I really do admire this film because it does not do the cheap easy way, as many indie filmmakers do, of leaving a majority of events unfinished or unexplained, in an effort to portray some sort of hack message. Inside does not do this, and actually makes you think without forcing it. This film is satisfying, unpredictable and well shot.I saw this film at the fantastic film fest, where the director did a Q&A afterwords. Hes got a lot of talent, and I cant wait to see what he does next.
... View MoreAs a first time director and a small budget I wasn't expecting anything amazing. But must I say it was enjoyable and there was some suspense in there. Acting wasn't the best but better than a lot of movies I have seen, it could be do to the fact of who the main four characters are, their personalities were meant to be different. I wasn't happy with the lighting and some of the shots were a bit bland, but overall I think it is a well deserved watch. The story was a great idea, and Leighton Meester character was so cute, you had to smile each time she was on screen.Hopefully he does well in the festival circuit.
