I saw Bol from the same director and gave it a nine. Found that this earlier work was even more highly rated here so had a look. Script content was definitely eye opening giving an insight for me to another religion and culture. However at 3 hours long, it was slow and could have had 30 mins trimmed. The acting was also rather stiff. As a movie enjoyment, it is worth a 5 but i gave it a lower score to balance the bias likely from other voters. As far as religion goes I can not believe how it is acceptable to force a marriage onto someone without consent. I have 2 daughters who I love dearly, who also love me in return. I can never fathom doing anything to them that causes them pain and misery. The best religion is one which teaches you to live life and treat others how you would like to be treated.Cheers.
... View MoreWhat can i say about this movie. This is truly a work of art. Hats off to shoaib mansoor. It is a very thought provoking film, not at all humorous or anything like that but not at all, at any point did I feel bored, as the movie progressed I got deep and deeper lost in the movie.Though the movie did have 2 plots, one was the plot about music and Islam, simultaneously 9/11 and the consequences after it were shown which I thought was deep and a reflection of reality but it wasn't necessary and perhaps made the movie too long showing the consequences a Muslim immigrant in USA had to face.Nevertheless i must say bravo to the wonderful acting everyone did. A movie this deep and full of thought according to me is a contender for an Oscar for its plot. The speech by Naseeruddin Shah nearing the end, i doubt that i will be able to get it out of my mind for quite a really long time. I do not have proper words to describe what shoaib mansoor has crafted.I watched this movie only recently which is 6 years after its release, for 6 years i heard how wonderful this movie was/is, at first i thought that it could not have been up to such a mark but surely i was mistaken, i feel that the way people complimented the movie was an understatement. This movie is a must watch, and trust me when i say MUST watch, I do not say that lightly :)
... View MoreI watched this movie for the sake of the fact that ShoMan directed this movie the director of Sonhere din, the best TV serial after Tanhiyaan, and i was not disappointed. Shaan is absolutely awesome with his acting skills which was given life by ShoMan i would recommend to him if he reads this, please get out of the Syed Noor world of Punjabi films because Punjabi Pakistani films are dead when we lost Sultan Rahi and enter this world of ShoMan because he has earned a lot of respect by this movie. Iman Ali and others were a great touch to this movie, they match to the theme of the plot and movie set-up. Still there is lot of work to be done in Pakistani movies but this is just the beginning. i believe we have not seen the last of ShoMan.
... View MoreI'm virtually a film critic and watch almost all the good and bad movies that fly by my eye. I have to say this is one of the best movies I have ever seen, it clearly depicts how each person has a different perspective and we all need to understand each others way of thinking before making decisions. Thanks to the whole team of Khuda kay liye for such a brilliant movie!!!! I recommend this movie to each and every person who believes in equality, humanity and a free world!! Do watch this movie and spread a word across this is a must watch. Also, hats off to the people of Pakistan for appreciating the beauty of this movie.
