David and Brenda are perfect for each other, and everyone knows it except David and Brenda. After a break-up, they each experience their own rough patch. For David, a self-destructive artistic endeavor and a relationship with an immature beauty—for Brenda, a failing acting career, an eviction notice, and a boyfriend who just doesn’t do it for her. A chance encounter brings them together on the streets of New York at a particularly bad time. David invites Brenda to the opening of his first photography exhibit and the stage is set for a night of drinking and flirting which leads to an untraditional proposal of how they can be together without getting back together. A sharply observed, un-romantic comedy by writer/director Mel Rodriguez III, IN STEREO is a stylish and striking first feature that offers an unflinching look at the complexity of modern relationships.

It takes a brave director to cast four equally masochistic personalities as leads. Especially, while not feeling obliged to provide major background information, too often used to elicit feelings of sympathy for such characters. Why should we feel sorry for them? Why do audiences always feel the need for redemption when every day life provides us plentiful evidence of its absence? Three of the main characters are grown adults, now responsible for their own behaviors. One is child-like and pulled most at my heart strings. Jen (Melissa Bolona) performed in outstanding manner the role of so many young girls, lacking in self-esteem and looking for love in all the wrong adult places. In this case, she is sucked into a nihilistic vortex. Yet, she is the only one of the four main characters whom actually FEELS! She expressed the disappointment, the fear, the concern, the loneliness, the betrayal, the clawing need for love which the rest tamper down with one form of escape or another. And, should we need have some "feel good" come of the movie, she provides the hope. Now, the music, the music is equally as brave and amazing! A wonderful composition of well-known and not so well-known artists, carefully culled and provides equal measure to this story. Want a good dose of reality? This is it! Think the world revolves around you? You may just want to bang your head really hard on something before you begin watching.

This movie is really not much of anything until time passes and she comes on screen. Know why she is part of the production, but really don't get him at all. When there's totally no substance to the story, the only reason to keep watching is because you're latched onto one or more of the characters, or the actors themselves. Believe she brought many to watching this production, and is the only reason to attempt fast forwarding through it. There's many actors having the talent, and just for some reason or another don't get the breakthrough role/ recognition. Don't have a clue what it might be with this woman, but if things were right in the business, they're be a good number seriously trying to find more worthwhile opportunities for her.. she's surely got the goods. Hopefully it happens, she really appears to have so much more to offer.
