Movie Review: "Gone In Sixty Seconds" (2000)Before "The Fast And The Furious" conquers the "Automotive" action-cinema for the years to come, starring ensemble including Academy-Award-winners Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie and Robert Duvall, reprising a carácter-alike "Days of Thunder" (1990) from Harry Hogge to Otto Halliwell, to build a remake of a 1974 action-movie with Jerry Bruckheimer producing and 50-year-old Dominic Sena directing to entertain but not surprise in a simplistic storyline of hi-jacking 50 high-glossy sportive cars in one night of a major raid to bust out Nic Cage's film brother portrayed by Giovanni Ribisi, when his character's only objective becomes to cruise the 1971 customized Ford Mustang one last time at Southwest Marine roads of Los Angeles county to fulfill an action revenue at a price of a single occasion action car chase movie with no further depth put well-put production values thanks to cinematographer Paul Cameron and the production company executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer to Hollywood high-stand short-lived excellence.Copyright 2018 Cinemajesty Entertainments LLC

180215: First time I've watched this film in many, many years. Not quite the classic I once felt compelled to purchase. Has not stood the test of time and features some pretty weak acting. Of course, Eleanor's performance is still the highlight but even she has lost some glow. Next.

This movie came out when Nicholas Cage was the it guy and most of the movies that he starred in was over the top but entertaining. He was the iconic Hollywood actor when it came to action and con artist type of movies from the 90's and early 2000. And he did portrays a likable car thief in this naturally. Before he just became the guy that freaks out and goes crazy in his future movies. So when I first saw this movie as a kid, I thought it was a fun crime action movie. With fast cars, a hot girl and a team working together to steal 50 cars in one night. It wasn't the most cleverly executed movie, and doesn't go into detail when it comes to the planning of the thefts. But it's a serviceable action/crime movie. Even the chase scene, which isn't one of the best chase scenes I have seen was at least cool. As a matter of fact this felt like a bit toned down version of "Fast Five". Overall after seeing it again, I thought it was a fairly decent early 2000's action movie.6/10

Gone in Sixty Seconds came on TV the other night and proved me right in avoiding it in theaters back in the day. Nicolas Cage offers his standard performance, Angelina Jolie gives a lesson in "wooden acting", while the rest of the crew duly follows. There is nothing essentially new or wrong in this movie. It introduces us to a world of small time crooks, car thieves and semi-competent police officers. Since the story revolves around cars, you might even enjoy it if you're into cars yourself.I'm always impressed how such mess of a movie gets funding and then even earns money at the box office.
