Firstly, I'm not a religious guy. This story is not only about God or religious beliefs, it's about human beings. Greg is a religious man that understands love and human beings and is capable of changing lives. Even if you don't believe in God, don't be pushed away, because this is a great story about human society, prejudice and human nature. The way that father Greg approaches at these gang members and touches their lives is something to think about and meditate. You can feel the welcoming in his voice, in his speeches, in his touch... he's filled with something that lacks in many people all around the world: love. He genuinely loves everyone. And he manages to transform this pure love into opportunity to gang members that want something more: change.USA has a great middle class population. And, normally, these people play by the rules, are hard-workers, educated and respectful. But they usually don't know how to deal with poverty, inequality and violence. We used to think that prison was the solution. But it's not. We've seen that. Now we need to change the perspective. It's not only about forgiveness and change, it's about minimizing the damage that these excluded people can cause to themselves and the society. If we only try to suppress crime, we'll raise violence and will never be able to stop the cycle. Father Greg offers them support, job and love. These can change someone's life. These can make the difference in violence and criminality. This is a new paradigm on society and human beings. It's not a panacea to our problems with violence and inequality, but it's definitely a huge helper, a true way out. I'm sure that this story can change a life. It's changed mine. Congratulations to all the people involved with Homeboy Industries.
