Follow That Skirt (1965) *** (out of 4) Richard W. Bomont directed this rather sleazy and sexually perverted tale of a man (Dale West) who likes to stalk women out and then brutally murders them because he wants to be a woman! FOLLOW THAT SKIRT was obviously influenced by the Herschell Gordon Lewis gore movies but it goes a step further by not only delivering blood but also a lot of sexuality and nudity. Lewis obviously made gore film as well as nudie films but he never really mixed the two genres but this film from Bomont is pretty well-made considering what it is and there's no question that it's going to appeal to fans of these early gore films as well as those interested in the nudie.I think there are actually some very good moments scattered throughout the film including an early sequence where we watch a woman strip and then the killer pops out of a location that you really don't expect. I'm obviously not going to ruin what happens but it was extremely effective. Throughout the 27-minute running time there are a few women who pop up and take their clothes off. Yes, all of them get naked but there's also a more twisted perverted side in the fact that the man is doing it because he wants to be a woman. The film certainly was influenced by the Lewis films but it's really an early version of something like HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. The film certainly isn't a masterpiece but it's going to appeal to fans of the genre.
