Finding Fanny- 2014 Director: Homi AdajaniaOne needs Brains and Creativity to produce such films. The immensely talented director, Homi Adjania deserves the maximum credit for what he has delivered.Naseeruddin Shah- as Ferdie, the emotional affable post master is brilliant. Naseer underplays his character,he has modulated his voice and his body language to portray Ferdie and the outcome is just mind-blowing.Pankaj Kapur- who plays the eccentric lusty painter Don Pedro, he again proves his brilliance with this portrayal.Deepika Padukone- She proved that she have matured as an actress of top notch. She was fresh, her acting was unforced and she flowed throughout the movie like a star....there were many places where she will stole your heart..like while listening to Naseer from her Balcony.Dimple Kapadia- is very good too, dominating yet hesitantly finding her way through the challenges life has thrown at her.Arjun Kapoor- has probably the most uni-dimensional role and he does it credit. In acting chops, probably the one who has to go the furthest, but he can still hold his head high after this one.Finding Fanny is a simple anatomy of love. It is the best movie Bollywood has produced this year since QUEEN! Highly recommended

Finding Fanny is a fairy tale by Homi Adajania very unlike his previous projects. A short English themed movie based on the lives of a romantic postman, a middle-aged woman, a lusty painter, a virgin widow and a morose lover. The movie begins with a straight forward introduction of characters, subsequently developing the story step by step. Things start setting in motion when Naseer receives an undelivered letter from his old flame and everybody joins the cause to bring back the romance in Naseer's life. Homi puts in a nice illusion where Naseer dreams of getting himself drowned, somewhat similar to Saif's bathtub shot in Being Cyrus. The plot thickens and becomes interesting when the bunch prepares for a road trip to find Fanny for Naseer. Shot in a picturesque cinematography of Goa, Finding Fanny sets up a beautiful imagery in the minds of audience in the first half. Gradually the movie loses its grip and begins to hastily conclude in a flat manner added by a cursory romance between Deepika and Arjun. One particular distraction was not using sync sound technique in a road trip movie, which makes it very artificial. The poorly thought ending has some excellent performance by each of the cast member. It is extremely difficult to say whether Pankaj Kapur was better than Naseer or Arjun Kapoor. Nevertheless, it's a rare bollywood creation and should be watched without any prejudices.

A very fine movie i ever saw. It actually provoked me to create a account on IMDb and share my experience. A very superb casting with the exact person performing its role. Though the story is about how a person starts the journey to find his love at a very late stage of life delayed due to his fear of his love saying "No" to him. (so far as i understood) whats emphasized that you should ask for your love no matter its yes or no. During this journey we come to see various different characteristics of human nature, passion, love, etc. The whole journey seemed very wonderful and hilarious at many places. The movie according to me is a mirror of human life and teaches us to live happily whatever happens and to move on ahead no matter how worse things are. A must watch movie by every one to refresh oneself and would love to mention that this movie is truly different from the typical Bollywood movies ans is a master piece in its own.

The film is all kinds of brilliance however its not everyone's cup of tea its deep its layered under weird quirk. A lot of metaphors and nuances will not be noticed if you see it as a usual bollywood fare actually you'll hate it if you see it that way because it'll be hard to understand why the 5 oddballs behave that way. There is a smart reasoning behind every move and expression. Rosie, Ferdy, Savio and Angie especially. Pedro is the hilarious one. The other 4 oddballs have the intriguing touch Esp Ferdy, Rosie and Angie. The cat part is dealt in the most fascinating way there is a tragic humor in that which reflected after its death scenes starting with Angie crying and Savio exposing Rosie's negligence. Ferdy never loved Fanny he is a sweet childlike dreamer who built an imaginary world with Fanny, he imagined her to be the same pretty teen he last saw some 40 years ago he was in love with that imaginary world and that dream not her. The most serious and tragic scenes shown in a quirky weird manner. It'll either make you say What or you'll go a little deep or joint 2 and 2 and see WHY. Its brilliant, its smart and its enjoyably Sweet. Naseer is adorable as Ferdy his voice pitching, laid-back body language its perfect. Dimple is hilarious so is Pankaj. As Savio, Arjun gave his career best performance and Deepika Padukone slams it on detractors face again proves why she is number 1 today. The girl's screen presence, body language, the ease is wonderful she is utterly beautiful as a performer, she looked like drop of fresh dew. The scene between Arjun and Deepika after they make love will go down as one of the most natural scenes in movies. You feel like its not acting and filming, more like someone left a camera there its that natural. Its the naturalness, lights and subtle handling of their scenes that I felt like Angie and Savio were real not actors Deepika and Arjun. Their little interactions were worth every penny this understated chemistry is one of the best things about Finding Fanny. The background music is one of the highlights of the film. The gorgeous piece have hauntingly sweet quality. Another highlight is the flawless cinematography Goa captured exceptionally well. The film would have looked soul less if cinematography was weak. Goa, the sky blue car, the greens the sky they all have a character of their own. Take a bow Team Finding Fanny what a lovely little bitter sweet film with outstanding performances. Hats off Adajania !
