When Ben Wrightman, a young teacher, begins dating pretty businesswoman Lindsey Meeks, the two don't seem to have a lot of the same interests, but they fall in love, regardless. Their romance goes well until baseball season begins, and Lindsey soon realizes that Ben is completely obsessed with the Boston Red Sox. Though she tries to understand Ben's passionate team loyalty, eventually it threatens to end their otherwise happy relationship.

The Farrelly Brothers are in assured & fine form in the underrated 'Fever Pitch', an oddly appealing Romantic-Comedy, that mixes love & fanaticism with honesty. Its a cute & breezy watch, with an excellent cast.'Fever Pitch' Synopsis: Lindsay (The Adorable Drew Barrymore) is stuck in the middle of her relationship with Ben (The Underrated Jimmy Fallon) and his passion for the Boston Red Sox.Watching Lindsay struggle with Ben over his lifelong obsession with the Boston Red Sox, mostly results in funny moments. What really works here is how The Farrelly Brothers keep the tone light & warm, never losing out on its simplicity. Though the film lags at parts & could've been trimmed by a few minutes, its still a decent watch nonetheless.Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel's Screenplay, which is loosely based on Nick Hornby's best-selling memoir, Fever Pitch: A Fan's Life, is cute & manages to show romance & fanaticism, both, effectively. The Farrelly Brothers' Direction, like always, is simple & well- done. Cinematography & Editing are perfect. Art & Costume Design are also great.Performance-Wise: Fallon & Barrymore are in excellent form. Fallon, the current hot favorite talk show host, portrays a man committed to his obsession with energy & is equally successful at being romantic. Barrymore is wonderful as his lady-love, who at times fails to understand his obsession, yet tries to make them work. The Supporting Cast is pretty solid, too.On the whole, 'Fever Pitch' will make you smile, if nothing more.

The Farrelly brothers create their most main stream rom-com. This stars a lovely Drew Barrymore as a hard working Lindsey Meeks. Jimmy Fallon is a sweet charming high school teacher Ben Wrightman. They hit it off, but when spring comes, something starts to go wrong. He is an obsessive Boston Red Sox fan. His obsession takes over his life, and even starts to push out Lindsey. It's a great rom-com. And it's not the outrageous gross out humor that the Farrelly brothers are known for. That to me is the revelation. It is time that they consider branching out from their comfort zone. Not every movie has to have that crazy idea. The Fallon Barrymore pairing has good chemistry. That's what's important for a traditional rom-com.

I am reviewing this movie from a movie point of view instead of a sports point of view even though I will mention a few sports related topics. From a movie view, this is a great, family-fun movie with several important themes added in.This film is about a die-hard Red Sox fan who falls in love with a workaholic and they begin to date. Their relationship is fine to start off but as things get sweeter, the addiction to the Red Sox team has begun to tear them apart inch by inch. The acting is pretty good. Drew Barrymore did a great job. Jimmy Fallon did a decent job, not as well as I expected. There are some good songs in this comedy. These songs include "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond. This movie brought back some unpleasant memories for me. When the Yankees were ahead 3 games to nothing, I thought that the Yankees would be in another World Series, but the Red Sox won the next four games to advance to the World Series. That still haunts me to this day.Sports fan or not, this is a good movie to watch with a date or family. It has some decent laughs. I rate this movie 8/10.

I love and admire the Farrelly brothers! How come I only got to see this great movie 3 years after it's release? It made me laugh, it made me cry and it reeeaally warmed my heart. Big Time. It's hard to describe in my rotten English - but I have to try anyway:The cast is excellent throughout - from the lead- to the supporting roles, the acting is great, the dialogs are great and the film is perfectly directed and edited.I think that the Farrelly brothers movies are often underestimated - they are not light comedies - they're deeeeeep! They talk about what life is all about (I won't tell YOU!).In my case, this movie affirmed to me what relationships are all about:If you love somebody: Set them free, let them be - try to share the passion and the pain and always be true to each other.I'm not a sports-hater, but definitely a sports ignorant. But in this movie - the vibes get you. I could smell the atmosphere of Baseball. Finally, this movie explained to me what being a sports-fan can mean to you and what cool fan-families there must be out there. Thanks so much, Pete & Bob!P.S.: If you haven't seen it - please check out KINGPIN!
