Racing is in Alex Johnstone's blood. It was her father s life and it ultimately caused his death so her uncle Bill, who runs the local speedway, is determined not to lose his niece the way he lost his brother. But Alex is determined to prove to Bill, to the world, and especially to herself that she has what it takes to be the best in a traditionally male-dominated sport. And when she meets up with handsome professional racecar driver Darryl Sands, the emotional stakes are raised even higher. Will Alex crash and burn or can she carry on her dad s legacy and make her dreams come true?

This is a clean cut, family movie about a girl and her passion for racing as well as the emotional drama she experiences growing up with her father and the mental challenges she faces where her father is killed when his car flips during a car race. The family bond between father and daughter are well established in the introduction and the struggle is established for a girl to be taken seriously in a sport dominated by men.The movie takes place in the Southern California on and near Willow Springs and Big Willow race track, which is a real track and for those who are familiar with the area will find some of the locations familiar. The movie addresses racing in the official and more traditional way of learning to become a driver, instead of relating race driving to the pop culture import street racing that had been dominating the racing scene. The movie seems like a Disney or straight to TV movie, clean cut, good for family and kids. There are some very nice camera shots in-car and on-track while racing, the cars are very authentic using the popular Mazda and Porsche track cars. The human story is progressive and ends with a victory for the main character. Got a 7 for its authenticity, a straight forward good drama and finally, there are no import car scene being related to traditional racing.

Fast Girl is a delightful movie appropriate for all members of the family. It is beautifully shot and gives a quaint look at small town living. The movie is the story of a young woman trying to pursue her dream of becoming a race car driver. There are many people in her path to help and hinder her. Mircea Monroe is wonderful as Alex, the "Fast Girl". Justin Guarini is charming as the love interest who tries to offer her love and guidance in her quest. Dwier Brown and Caroline Rhea provide great support as Uncle Bill and Maddie. This movie has action, drama, comedy, romance and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

This is a great family film and if you like racing, then it's a MUST! Well written with strong performances, particularly from (and I was surprised) Justin Guarini. Dwier Brown does a great job as Uncle Bill, too, at first standing in Alex's way to success, then helping her get there. And Mircea Monroe as Alex has you rooting for her until the finish line.Sure, you know it's going to have a happy ending, but the suspense and excitement kept me going right up to the end. It's beautifully shot and directed, and captures that wonderful Americana feel of small town people with big dreams. I particularly enjoyed the film because I'm a car buff, and the writers definitely did their homework. Both my wife and I liked it because we really cared about the characters. And our 14-year old daughter loved it because the lead, Alex, is a strong young woman who goes for her dream... and she thinks Justin is really cute. This film has a lot of heart... and the racing footage is very well done. Great for the whole family! Pardon the pun, but Fast Girl hits on all cylinders!
