FAN is unbelievably good. The highlight of the movie is Shah Rukh Khan, who plays both Gaurav, the obsessed FAN and Aryan Khanna, the larger than life star. SRK plays both the characters stunningly and keeps you packed on his seat for all the 2 n half hours. There definitely are loop holes, but they are highly negligible in front of SRK's acting. All the other characters are nice, but SRK is only one for whom you can watch the film. All and all, FAN is a must watch for people who admire someone and for those who not. Direction is fine, and angles of camera are insanely good. The music less film never bores you, and the idea of not adding songs to the official video of the film does not backfire. You are not going to hate it unless you a hardcore SRK hater. SRK is BACK.

There is a scene in Fan where Aryan Khanna (played by SRK) is checking out his wrinkled skin, seemingly worried about his age and fading super stardom. The fear of losing everything is what makes Aryan Khanna's character vulnerable and complex. He is termed as arrogant and insecure by others while he likes to call himself as 'Sanki'. The scene suggests the multi-layered script which deserves a minute viewing under the commercial package it is served. After all the movie is bound to be hyped as it comes under the banner of YRF films.Fan has everything that a Yashraj movie can boast about - a foreign location, a high energy dance number, a wedding sequence and off course, their poster boy SRK. However, its a different offering from their staple diet - a foreign location that is not meant for romantic songs, a chart buster song that doesn't feature in the movie, a wedding sequence that takes a dig on the superstar himself and SRK in a deglam role even though he plays a superstar and his own fan in the movie. The concept of the movie is interesting. A fan who happens to be his look alike sets out to meet his screen idol. However, things don't go as per planned and this pits the fan against the superstar. There is a thin line between love and hate. And it takes one moment to change that emotion. That is what happens when Gaurav Channa (also played by SRK) meets his idol. He imagines Aryan Khanna as his own family member, friend or even God. Dedicating 25 years of his life to a person whom he knew only on screen, he sets out on a journey to meet him. But life isn't what we plan about. An incident happens and he realizes that the person he worshiped isn't the same person in real life. A scene where he destroys Aryan Khanna's room calling him an actor in real life too is haunting and disturbing. The sheen of super stardom manages to blind Gaurav to a fact that he fails to recognize Aryan as a human being too. A human being who also feel emotions of happiness, sadness, insecurity, anger, frustration. Maybe things would have ended in a different manner if they had met at some other time of their life. But Gaurav with his starry eyed dreams met Aryan when he was facing a slump in his career. The superstar snubs him and fan decides to go rogue. AFTER ALL AN IDOL(IDLE) MIND IS A DEVIL'S WORKSHOP.There are many things that are worth praising about in Fan. First of all, it brings back the actor SRK back on screen after a long hiatus since My Name Is Khan. He is splendid in both his avatars. As Gaurav Channa he displays the immaturity and craziness of a youngster while as Aryan Khanna he displays the complexities of a Superstar. I found SRK a bit uncomfortable in his previous outings like Happy New Year and Dilwale while here he seems to have his mojo back. By bringing in his dark side, SRK transports us to an era where he started off his career with films like Darr and Baazigar. Director Maneesh Sharma shows a flair when he handles the rustic flavors of Delhi and Mumbai but slowly loses his grip in the second half. The first half is smooth and fantastic. The scenes where Gaurav wins the Supersitara contest or his reaction when he sees Aryan for the very first time or their first encounter in the jail are crackling. However, the director takes creative liberties in the second half and takes it to a point where movie defies logic though it has some good moments too. The supporting cast does a good job as well. The VFX needs special mention as it actually goes with the tone of the movie and never appears out of place. The chase scene though not in sync with the movie are well shot and thrilling enough to pave their way in the next Bond movie.Don't expect this movie to break records or people going gaga over it. Its a movie where SRK tries to express himself as an actor. For that alone he deserves a standing ovation.

There is a reason why Shah Rukh Khan is known for his intense roles. This film brings back the menacing Darr-Baazigar-Anjaam-esque SRK back and he is pure masterclass. You may love him. You may hate him. But you can't help but admire the guy's acting ability. This film is not everyone's cup of tea. Some people might deliberately hate it, but hey, that is the persona of SRK. The most polarising actor ever.Thank You Maneesh Sharma for bringing back "The Actor SRK" whom we desperately missed since My Name Is Khan. Kudos to the team for choosing something so risky and so brave.Films like these are not made for Huge Box Office Collections, they are made for sheer uniqueness. You may agree with me. You may disagree with me. All I would like to say is "Rehnede, Tu Nahi Samjhega".

To start of, I'm an Indonesian but settling in Mumbai. I've been admiring SRK since the first time I watched Indian movies, so I know all his movies. But Fan, is way too different! Shah Rukh did it again by proving the world that he does natural acting. How he acts as Gaurav, a normal boy from Delhi (a bit crazy) and how he acts as a superstar with some ego is just marvelous (speechless). For the entire movie, I believed that Gaurav was someone else, I didn't even think that it was SRK with a different face. How he turns my emotion upside down is amazing, and not to mention with that age he has such energy. I haven't seen such actors with that ability. The people who give low rates for this movie are either haters or have no clue what to do in their life.So if you really admire acting, Fan is way too worthy!!! So watch it!
