Fading West Trailers

Inspired by films including "Rattle and Hum" and "Endless Summer," Fading West follows Grammy-winning alternative-rock band Switchfoot as they travel the globe in search of new musical inspiration and perfect waves. Filmed during Switchfoot's 2012 World Tour, Fading West charts the creation of the fivesome's upcoming album in its earliest and most unpredictable stages. As the band visits legendary surf breaks in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Bali, brothers Jon and Tim Foreman breathe fresh life into their songs by harnessing the spirit of their surroundings and mining new emotional depths. Part rock documentary, surf film, and travelogue, Fading West offers rare glimpses of the longtime surfers on their boards, captures the frenetic energy of their live shows, and portrays a journey both epic and intimate.

This is a heck of a film. Fans and non-fans alike will love every minute. It evokes a lot of emotion. Often you will laugh, and maybe even cry. It's a great look inside the struggles of being a band, touring 24/7, and living life on the road. This movie doubles as a surfing film, which means it also provides a fantastic look at some of the best surf spots on the planet, as surfing is a staple of the band members lives. The ocean is where they go to "press the reset button", relieve stress and get amped for whatever lies ahead.Visually, this movie is stunning. It's a treat for the eyes and ears. The band scores the film themselves and gives you sneak peaks throughout of their upcoming album (Jan. 14, 2014) also titled Fading West. Whether you are a fan or not, this movie is worth checking out. This film is a great example of the consistent output of quality content Switchfoot has been giving their fans for the past 15 years. And from the looks of it, they won't be stopping anytime soon.

Got to see this movie premier in a tiny surfing town on the east coast of Florida, along with a crowd filled with young surfing enthusiasts. I can barely stand on land based boards, and yet this film left me with the inexplicable desire to pick up a board and hit the waves. As a film, camera work was done with a mixture of mediums, all of which blended together quite interestingly. Seeing this very inspiring band continue their journey as artists was of course a treat, and I'd highly recommend catching a showing of it if you can.Fading West is a film filled with just the right amount of highs and lows, and these guys balance wave shredding with moments of raw vulnerability seldom witnessed in the rock scene. It's a film that very well reflects it's makers, showing a self assurance and clear sense of purpose and place that culminates in a highly satisfying viewing experience.
