The story is set in a small town/suburb outside NYC. A couple have a foster kid high school boy who is gay. The foster kid and his "bi curious " buddy witness a murder, a lot of contrived drama unfolds from there. The above couple are lady cop and guy shrink. The Mom cop is also an incessant "rhymes with witch". She is constantly narcing the kid about everything. "where are you going who are you calling where were you ?" " Poker night was our alone night BOO HOO" Someone has to tell this chick to just LET IT GO !!!!! let it goooooooooo......The shrink Dad is trying to be cooler, BUT he is constantly differing to her. In addition, he is shown to be madly in love with her, which makes no sense because she has all the charm of a middle aged school marm, and half the sex appeal . Everybody seems miscast. The shrink hubby is an alpha looking dude playing a beta, the Mom Helen Torrance character is a plain Jane playing a leading lady, and the "macho conflicted moto crossing "bi" kid has dyed blonde hair and a smiley smiley mugg reminiscent of David Bowie. It's all so confusing. Even the obligatory mixed race chic looks white, but with a brand new fright wig.... The cliche villan- pedo looks like a male model? etc..,etc..I watched most of it, the way you would finish a big mac and fries , the whole time thinking it was junk. This might be done well as a spoof: one that had a lot of slap stick with the Helen Torrance character as recipient. Would it be too much to ask if her character got rubbed out in the re do?
... View MoreOne of the worse programs ever produced. Two gay boys see a murder and so decide not to tell. Duh, they could say they were there drinking not having sex. But then the whole rest of the series would fall apart. Then having the killer be the FBI agent in charge. What a weak plot. But you could always tell what mode he was in because like Jekyll and Hyde he was either smiling or scowling. And the script-- OMG was this written by high school kids? And the female sheriffs husband--he had one expression whether he was mad, or sad it said confusion. Like the whole series. And, to make the series "moody" they decided to take all the saturation out of the picture so it looked kind of like black and white. All that did was make the file muddy not moody. And, to top it off, feeling they didn't have enough action shots to warrant the number of episodes each one was filled by a long irrelevant conversation between two people about feelings or understanding. OK, and here's the real spoiler they wanted to show that the female sheriff was conflicted and in this small town running away from something. So some kid dreamed up--Hey lets have her have killed a baby in Buffalo. How lame can you get.
... View MoreWhat's amazing about this show, is that you can hardly name the topic. It's a thriller, obviously, but it focuses on the investigation as much as on the characters lives, their relationships and their development. The "drama- part" of the show is mainly about Philip and Lukas, two boys, who happen to be eyewitnesses to a triple-homicide, but don't tell anybody, because they don't want them to know they were together that night. In fact it's a heartbreaking love relationship, and the topic of gay love, coming-out, and (the fear of) homophobia is treated in a very sensitive and honest way. Then there's Helen, the cop investigating in the murder-case. She is Philips foster-mother and appears to have a troubled past herself. She is struggling with creating a family bond, and keeping Philip and her husband close to her, while being totally obsessed with the case. The "crime-part" of Eyewitness is very interesting, since we get to see the point of view from the witnesses (who later possibly become victims), keeping what they saw a secret, the police, trying to solve the case, and the murderer, covering up his tracks. We know who the murderer is, right from the beginning, but it does not ever get boring. On the contrary, it creates a certain tension and makes you wanna shout at the television. So all in all, Eyewitness is a very extraordinary show, with deep characters, an excellent soundtrack, and a new twist every episode. Very recommendable!
... View MoreI am sorry to all the lovers of this show, but I do not think that this show lives up to the standards of the original at all. I watched both the American and the Norwegian version during a couple of days and I have to say that this version of this tale manages to fall flat. I became really interested in this show because of it's thrilling plot and the fact that it portrays a gay romance. The main actors are not bad, but the script is really awkward. Because of this, the only thing that interested me were Philips and Lukas story-line, the rest I just felt like skimming through. I also do not like the way that everything is filmed. Maybe it's a style preference, but I feel like they shoot (film) from some angles that are a bit awkward or inexplicable. Because of this I don't feel like we get to see what the actors are really portraying, and instead everything just feels awkward and stressed.
