This film is one piece of a joke. A complete mishmash of wannabe cool action scenes and heroes (and heroines), all lifted from different famous foreign action movies. Awfully uninspiring, terribly melodramatic and overdone, with a cliché and unoriginal screenplay. The cast is just one bunch of poseurs. Abhishek Bachchan is in the lead, and he is awfully miscast as the "tough" cop. Sanjay Dutt has nothing to do there. Sunil Shetty unsurprisingly overdoes his role and Zayed Khan is more laughable than funny with his annoying fake accent. Shilpa Shetty's Tomb Raider look is one of many mistakes made in the career of an otherwise talented actress who did not get good role offers. At times I was really wondering what the director was thinking while copying some of the most famous scenes of Hindi films. Like, for one, the group song which had them all singing a song when out of nowhere they noticed Sanjay Dutt's serious expression, stopped singing, and then, he suddenly starts singing and dancing with them in a very cheesy way. It is so clearly lifted from the song "Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna" from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, involving Amrish Puri and Shahrukh Khan. The final scene is simply pathetic, and so is this film. Avoid this dreadful cheapo at any cost.

It was almost like it was too much of a mediocre thing. Too Melodramatic. Even right now as I am trying to write this review, all that is truly standing out in my mind is Diya Mirza's engagement party scene and the song and dance that took place there. Oh! also the fact that Shilpa Shetty looked so great in this film.Okay, here's the premise; Sanjay Dutt plays Siddanth Dheer the head of an elite SWAT anti-terrorist bomb squad and negotiators that also mainly includes his brother Shashank (played by Abhishek Bachchan), Aditya (played by an Uber sexy looking Zayed Khan), Aditi (played by the always svelte Shilpa Shetty) ET.AL.One day, the team receives inside information that something big is going to go down on May 10th and they are given only about 5 days to figure out what it is. Their first lead comes when an alleged member of a terrorist group is captured for driving drunk in Canada and being held until he can be handed over to Indian authorities. Siddanth then sends two of his best men (his brother Shashank, and Aditya) to go and bring back the prisoner as well as shake him down. But unknown to them, their source, a mysterious woman named Neha has been bumped off and replaced by another mysterious woman claiming to be ATC Agent Neha (now played by Esha Deol) when the two men arrive in Canada. Shashank fails in love the instant he sees her but he keeps his mind over matter as they begin the cat and mouse game with the man they have now apprehended. He is a so-called Himmat Mehndi (played by Pankaj Kapur) who feeds them all sorts of false stories that they willing buy from him. He claims not to know what the May 10th "Operation JEET" is about but as time goes buy that will prove to be on the contrary. Things worsen back home when Siddanth and Shashank's sister (Diya Mirza's character) and her fiancé are kidnapped by terrorists connected with this so-called Mehndi back home. As the film rides along you will get to see that the face of terrorism has been given a make-over.Along the way, the team acquires an interim new member named Danish 'Dan' (Played by Suniel Shetty) who works for the Canadian police and helps the case along with his Canadian inside privileges. Raima Sen plays his wife Priya, who has her own cross to bear with her husband. And trust Bollywood writers and the directors who accept the way they stereotype Black People as predators, muggers, rapists and killers is nearly every film they make. The writer in this case has made sure that a Black Person of group of Black people is the cause of Dan and Priya's grief. How ignorant, but I'm just saying.Anyhow, don't miss Gulshan Grover in a blink and you'll miss it special appearance. American singer Prince's ex-wife Mayte Garcia also makes a cameo in an item number and does it well. Pankaj Kapur also sizzles with his mysterious character. My 5 point over 10 rating is strictly for the sharp look of the film and Shilpa Shetty. Note to Bollywood script writers and directors: Surface to Air Missiles are very powerful weapons. Next time, maybe you need to watch actual footage of these weapons taking down fighter jets miles and miles away from them as well as numerous war torn villages in Iraq and Afghanistan before you make your characters survive being blasted by one at close blank rage. Gosh! I wish I could role my eyes in a review! + The ending sucked big time!

mehboobbawa

1 Star. Dus (Ten). Annihilated by Anubhav Sinha. With Sunjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, Suneil Shetty, Zayed Khan and Esha Deol in their worst performances ever. Mehboob Bawa reviews. According to the Internet site rediff.com, actor Sanjay Dutt agreed to star in this film after being narrated the story by director Anubhav Sinha in three minutes flat. That just about sums it up – Dus doesn't have much of a storyline and what there is of it is a convoluted mess. Full blame goes to Sinha, whose first action film this is. He's better known for his mediocre love stories Tum Bin (Without You) and Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hain (I Have Seen You Somewhere Before). In fact one would be forgiven for thinking that the film would have been better off without him as the storyline is completely derivative of countless Hollywood action blockbusters. He has used a flashy editing technique and snazzy camera-work to give his film an MTV look. But it cannot hide the fact that it's all shiny on top, but completely hollow inside. Dus was originally started by producer Nitin Manmohan and prolific director, the late Mukul S. Anand in the mid - 1990's. Anand passed away tragically, soon after production began and the film was subsequently shelved. This version of Dus merely shares the title, producer and two of the original's stars, Sanjay Dutt and Shilpa Shetty. Anand was a major force within the Indian film industry. His credits include Agneepath, Khuda Gawah and Hum. All three starred the legend Amitabh Bachchan and were memorable films. Sinha cannot hold a candle to Anand's accomplishments and based on his miserable attempt in directing Dus, it doesn't look like he'll be entering the major leagues anytime soon. The film revolves around the activities of an elite crime fighting squad, the Anti Terrorist Cell. They receive news that a major strike is going to take place in Canada within ten days and attempt to stop a catastrophe in which 25000 people could die. They know the name of the terrorist that is planning the strike, but nothing more. That's the only info they have received from one of their agents in the field. So far so good, an interesting plot, but one would expect that a detailed screenplay would be written based on it. No such luck, that's all we get. There are numerous scenes that require us to suspend belief and are often totally incomprehensible. Bollywood is known for the fantasy element in its films, but this is taking it out of the realms of acceptability. The film has many scenes that will have you rolling in the aisles at the absurdity of it all. The strike is taking place on foreign soil, but none of the Indian task force members think of informing the Canadian authorities about the imminent danger. The bomb is set to explode at a soccer match that the Indian Prime Minister is to attend, but there is no sign of the dignitary and this is never explained. The senior agent apprehends the mastermind, but is distracted by his fellow agents who are trying to defuse the bombs. Does the mastermind capitalise on this? No way, he just waits to be shot. Duh!Oh, everyone in this film looks really cool. You'd think this was a fashion show, the way they walk around in slow motion flaunting themselves, while killing the bad guys. It's all a bit ridiculous. Now if they were sending up the genre, they could've been onto something, but these guys are taking themselves far too seriously. I could go on and on, but what the heck, this film doesn't warrant that much attention. It certainly doesn't deserve yours.

I have no idea what all of u people r saying!! Sure, Dus had it's share of flaws, but come on, the acting had 2 be an excellent part! I mean, look at Sanjay Dutt, what a performance!!!!! As Siddhant, he played the loving brother and tough anti-terrorist detective. His acting was one of the best I have ever seen! Another brilliant thing was the songs, especially Dus Bahane... so very stylish and brilliantly executed. Chham Se was a beautiful engagement song for all..I definitely do believe so! For those who don't normally watch thriller/ suspense/ cop movies, Dus is a movie that you will enjoy very much so, and some of the scenes will linger in your mind after the movie has ended...
