Druids Trailers

In the year 60 B.C. a group of Druids, including the arch-druid Guttuart (Max von Sydow), witness the passing of a comet and interpret it as the sign of the coming of a king for their country Gaul, which has not had a king for a long time. Guttuart goes to Gergovia, the capital of the Arvenes tribe, to attend a meeting of Gallic tribal chieftains. The young boy Vercingetorix, along with his friend the young girl Eponia, sneak into a large cavern where Celtill, Vercingetorix's father and chieftain of the Arvenes, hosts the meeting of chieftains with the intention of proclaiming himself king of all Gauls. When Celtill shows off the crown once worn by the old kings of Gaul, an arrow from two Roman spies (dressed as Gauls) hits Celtill in the back.

This movie gets too many bad reviews mostly i think just cause people read how bad the movie is.Well i liked it cause it is a very good historic epic movie. The fight scenes which is what americans care most about i think were ok.The drama in it was pretty good also.It was not as big as a Gladiator or Braveheart maybe but i think they may not have hasd the same amount of cash the others had,I would not be surprised if compared with other European historical movies this was pretty good.If you compare it with big movies with lots of green-screen action in it you may think it not so good. But it is not some fantasy movie this is an effort to make a historical epic movie and it has succeeded pretty well i think. But i guess alot of peopel now would call Shakespeare a bad writer. The movie is fine i just deserves another audience.

This movie seems to divide opinions. I loved it, and I really didn't have any problems with any actors or the actresses either. All the main roles were played quite good enough. The Roman army looked better than I have ever seen, and there were huge troops, lots of cavalry with the Germanic and Gallian troops. Quite a massive war movie. This looked quite historically accurate to me. They didn't want to go the stupid fantasy way like the 300, a movie that I despise with passion. I loved how the Gallian towns were actual fortified towns, not just some little cheap villages. Even the Germans had a Suebi knot hair. This was a good war movie, of a little touched subject and of interesting characters. No, it wasn't about druids, at all.

In 60 B.C., druids led by Guttuart (Max von Sydow) witness a comet and prophesies the coming of a king to oppose the Romans. Vercingetorix (Christopher Lambert) lost his father when his uncle Gobanittio conspired with the Romans. Guttuart nurtured him to be the king of Gaul. Julius Caesar (Klaus Maria Brandauer) befriends the unknown young man as he kills his uncle to avenge his father. He joins Caesar to invade Britannia for half of the booty. The Gaul tribes are double-crossed by Caesar after one of the leaders revolted. Vercingetorix raises an army to battle Caesar. The opening of a comet traveling in space lays out the movie's high ambitions. At times, this is a big production. It's the hubris that makes the fall so much greater. The dialog is horribly clunky and laughable. The dubbing is terrible reminiscent of the bad dubbing from earlier time. Lambert is not a particularly subtle actor but he could fit the role. His hair is so ridiculous that it's almost hopeless to take him seriously. There are great actors in this and it's so sad to see them in this. Director Jacques Dorfmann is simply over his head. Even the extras look uncertain. Dorfmann has no sense of cinematic style. He is more or less being one of those weekend re-enactors. I'm not even going to dig into any historical inaccuracies. I don't really care about that if this is a good movie. It's not.

A truly horrible movie, from the acting to the camera-work, to the editing. I only watched it because I got the VHS for 50 cents and absolutely nothing was on TV. It barely beat out doing housework! Ugh!I already knew Christopher Lambert couldn't act (he got lucky and was carried by Sean Connery in Highlander) but he surpassed even my low expectations. And that hairdo! Like Frankenstein on a bad hair day.For what it's worth, Klaus Maria Brandauer did a good job (if you envision Caesar with a German accent) and Max von Sydow was, well...Max von Sydow.Oh, and one of the tribes (a little over halfway through the move) all had pink hair and looked like some type of mutant's escaped from a Wendy's restaurant! There was even a guy who looked like Pipi Longstocking. Scary.Anyway, if you want to watch something while you get really drunk (or otherwise inebriated) this might work, otherwise, save your 50 cents!
