Deep in the Woods Trailers

A group of artists, composed of the young actors Wilfried and Matthieu and the actresses Sophie, Mathilde and the dumb Jeanne, is hired by a millionaire, Axel de Fersen, to present a performance of Little Red Riding Hood in his isolated castle to celebrate the birthday of his grandson. Meanwhile, the police advises that a serial killer is raping and killing young women in the woods around that area. During the night, the group feels trapped and threatened in the castle, guessing who is and where might be the killer.

A group of actors heads 'deep in the woods' to put on a play (of Little Red Riding Hood) for a mysterious rich man at his estate to celebrate the birthday of the rich man's grandson, who was traumatised after witnessing his mother's death. The actors hear a police bulletin stating that a serial killer (who dresses like a wolf, coincidentally) has been raping and killing women in the area of the estate and, even after a few more murders, the group decides the safest thing to do is stay in the castle. . . was it the smart move? Or did they deliver themselves right into the killer's hands? Despite the fake reviews posted all over the place about this film (one of which compared Delpanque's vision to Argento's), I tried to go in with a totally open mind, without any real expectations. While Delpanque certainly is a talented director, he can't match Argento's visuals (which is the only thing I find remarkable about Argento's work). The film itself, however, leaves a lot to be desired. While it is visually splendid and the acting isn't too bad, the script is stale, even with a good and interesting 'fairy tale'-type story. The deaths were good enough, and the killer's Wolf costume was actually pretty creepy. But, the killer. . . well, it's strange: The 'twist' of the killer is so ridiculously obvious, I actually found myself questioning whether I was just caught in a huge red herring, so I got to the point where I started guessing at the others thinking the script couldn't be that boringly unsurprising. But, the film seemed to take itself too seriously and that's usually a pretty damaging blow to a mediocre film like this.

This was more an attempt to get all three of the leading actresses naked than a serious attempt at a horror flick. It was boring and not to mention not the least bit scary. More than anything it lacked any kind of sense of direction - had a fragmented and disjointed back story that never did get explained and really bad acting to boot. The creepy kid was the scariest thing about the whole movie. I'm not really sure if the script was just this bad or the director was just trying to figure out ways to get the actresses clothes off. Although they were mildly hot, it didn't fit in this movie at all and actually just made the film seem silly. I've actually seen better story lines in cheap porn flicks than this.In short, save your money and your time...this isn't even worth the price of a rental.

The debut of french director Lionel Delplanque is a strange horror film that serves as tribute to two apparently similar but different horror sub genres: The Italian Giallo and the American Slasher. The plot is quite typical: A group of young actors is hired by a mysterious rich man to go to his castle and perform the "Little Red Riding Hood" tale for his son in his birthday. The plot gives us everything a slasher demands: a young and very photogenic cast, a location where nobody can escape (the castle is located deep in the forest) and the "theme", in this case, the Little Red Riding Hood.Nevertheless, while the story moves pretty straightforward as any typical horror movie would go; the whole visual aspect is more in tone with the stylistic beauty of the Italian Giallo, with creepy Gothic atmospheres and a beautiful contrast of colors, red being the predominant of course. The cinematography shines and the visuals are of enormous beauty. The location is perfect for the movie and the handle of colors is awesome. Sadly (or fortunately?), most of the time this make you forget the clichéd plot full with twist ending. The acting is quite average, with François Berléand being the only worth mentioning, giving an outstanding performance as the eccentric millionaire. As many reviews have pointed out, the director seemed more concerned in the beauty of his composition than in directing his actors. The script is good, and even when it has scenes that border absurd (like any scene with the clichéd cop), it also includes beautiful surreal scenes, particularly in the killings; clearly inspired by Giallo movies. The film is worth a look, since the atmospheric suspense it develops is almost a rarity nowadays. Also, the beauty of its photography is something that must be seen to be believed. Don't expect too much and you'll be rewarded. 6/10

Don't listen to that other lady, who said it's major disappointment blablabla. I guess she must be generations earlier, since she was watching Belmondo. Of course, it's not an artistically-enriching movie or a Claude Lelouche masterpiece. But still, it nevertheless has great merits --- we must not compare all sorts of movies. That lady was saying it's not a Belmondo. Well, it's like comparing a Grace Kelly movie with The Matrix. Well, my dear, this movie is targeted to a young open-minded European audience. And I am sure many other young Americans loved it too. It's way much better than the average American teen movie. So when she's talking about an American remake, I don't think it will be any better simply because our boys are cuter.... lol. What I mean is that this movie really features young hot breathtaking French boys.... so at least I know it's quite worth watching... it's gorgeous.
