Excellent movie, sharp dialogs, beautiful direction with right choice of artists. Story line was very good. Urdu poetry was very awesome. Go for movie you will enjoy from start to end. Its all about Naseerudddin Shah, Baban, and Madhuri excellence movie. Often Bollywood movies lack good story match with good characters. But this movie is all different. Good story with good characters. Hope you will enjoy too as i enjoyed lot. Keep going Bollywood like this. All time you spend in watching this movie will be enjoying moments for you. After some long time get to watch movie like this with so much punch lines in it. Wish the director and producer all my best wishes.

What a wastage of wonderful star cast!!! Seeing the star cast especially Naseer sahib.one had expected a masterpiece in the league of Mirza Ghalib!!! It is reprehensible movie with senseless and illogical storyline.Naseeruddin Shah should have refused such stupid and childish movie.Arshad Warsi is the only one who fits its character. At best it is a comedy film where you park your brain at home.Madhuri Dixit - in a haste of comeback - has chosen utterly disappointing movie. neither the genre nor the Urdu language suits her style.Wastage of time and some of the language (abusive words from the mouth of Naseer Sahab)is disgraceful.

I saw this movie 2 days back and I am still shocked why is this movie becoming the talk of the town. the critics loved it, and so did the audience (as per the IMDb rating). But I am perplexed. I have always relied on IMDb for an indicator of a good bollywood movie but this one seems to be an exception, as per me.The movie starts very pregnant with a rustic feel with that 'batman' punch, and from there on I was looking forward to meet that character again (some solid vocals there!), only to be disappointed. The movie never picks up, actually. It starts with an interesting contest, a modern day weird swayamvar based on poetic skills (mixed with shooting..??). From there on it becomes a slow train that keeps on giving black smoke. Vijay Raz is good but his character is ambiguous. Madhuri is terrific though. Shah looks pale, Huma is decent, but the show-stealer is Warsi.Anyhow, the story is too laboriously over-stretched. The movie expands over 152 minutes when the plot becomes a bit too obvious just after interval. The twist was too weak to be called so as it was visible from miles away. The explanations and the motives behind the so-called twist , as explained in the denouement, are too weak and poorly crafted. To top all this crass, the climax is so harrowingly weak and Tarantino style that it takes away all the "real-feel" of the movie (which anyhow one never experiences).Even a 6 rating is a tad bit generous on my part.

Desh Ishqiya will be remembered in the annuls of history for its rich cinematic experience and the pure joy it provides to the audience. The mood, the atmosphere, and the ambiance created and showed in this movie is out of this world - one which takes its audience down the memory lane of Nawabs and Begums. And of course, the punch in the end - the real story and motive knocks everybody down. BRILLIANT !And the credit for all this goes entirely to the writer and director duo for coming up with such a path-breaking and marvelous piece of art. Nobody and I mean absolutely nobody in World cinema can portray the character of Begum Para Mirzada with perfection other than Madhuri Dixit. For once, the audience will never realize that she is this huge star Madhuri Dixt; all you can see and remember is Begum Para. Now that's what acting and performance is all about. What a pity, cinema never did justice to Madhuri Dixit's immense and once-in-a-century kind of talent. Nonetheless, writers and directors still have time to write scripts and tell stories that will capture her brilliance.I bet this movie will be remembered for decades for its storytelling, attempt to recreate the world of nawabs and begums, and of course the great Madhuri Dixit - India's best actor !
