I am astounded on some of the reviews here claiming this is a B movie. This is a movie that you show to a class of students who want to learn how to make a movie and point and say, "this is the wrong way". And I've thought I've seen some horrible movies on the syfy channel. This actually manages to go a step below that spectrum. The acting is off the charts south and the dialogue is even further down there. The story is pretty dumb but I have seen worst in that department. But you wanna know what gives this movie that little bit of extra crap that truly makes it extraordinarily bad? It is the editing and the cinematography. Almost every kill scene is looped over and over again without relief. And randomly, a mundane scene where an "actor" talks or does some kind of motion also loops. Why? It adds nothing to the movie and only frustrates you. And they will zoom in at like 10x on some scenes or use some gimmicky trick. You can tell they found these gimmicky tools on whatever program they were using to edit the movie and said"oh yea man that's crazy lets throw that in somewhere". The soundtrack is pretty crappy but then again I never cared for ICP. It feels forced on you, they introduce it and remove it quickly and abruptly. It is obvious this movie was done lazily. Poor editing, poor acting, poor dialogue, etc. It looks like they only did one take on every single scene and didn't bother even trying to make a decent movie. Well when you put in nothing you get nothing. The only honest thing I can say I liked about the whole movie was one scene with the android dude and the chick. And that's it.Oh, and you know what surprised the hell out of me? This movie was on SHOWTIME!?!?! I thought showtime was a premium competitor to HBO, why, who got this movie on there? What??

Death Racers (2008) * (out of 4) Asylum's "mockbuster" of Jason Statham's DEATH RACE (a remake of DEATH RACE 2000) features the Insane Clown Posse so watch at your own risk. The "story" is set in the future as four groups enter a death race where they get points by the amount of people they kill. Our heroes, played by ICP, are trying to win their freedom but this only happens if they win the race. I listened to ICP when I was around sixteen but this little stretch in my life probably didn't last over a year or so. Watching DEATH RACERS all these years later was the first time since that I've heard anything from the group so I must admit that I was mildly interesting but the end result is just one complete mess. Even for a picture from The Asylum this thing here is pretty bad but at the same time I'll at least give it credit for attempting to be low-rent trash like the original movie and that's something that the remake tried to avoid. With that said, once again we're treated to a movie that has no original story to be found and sadly the filmmakers just kept it going and going and going. At over 90-minutes the story is so weak that it couldn't even support a 30-minute movie let along something three times longer than that. I'm really not sure why so many "C" movies of today have to run at these extended running times. The 50s and 70s were full of bad movies but at least they knew not to drag on for too long. The problem here is that we're given a mumbo jumbo backstory dealing with humans being held down but it's just boring. Even the four groups of characters are rather boring in their own right, although I'll give the screenwriter credit for the Vaginamyte name. Those wanting violence and gore will find that here as we're given quite a bit of CGI scenes that of course look bad but bad gore is better than none. Performances are what you'd expect from a film like this and fans of ICP will probably enjoy seeing them act out their characters. With that said, their songs being repeated over and over again gets very annoying very quickly. In the end, DEATH RACERS is ultra stupid and sadly there's just not enough going on to make it entertaining even in a "so bad it's good" way.

Death Racers is a the typical "Asylum" movie ripping off a mainstream release (in this case "Death Race"). Death Racers is a cheap mix between the original Death Race 2000, Mad Max and Escape from NY, all with the worst editing work you can imagine. Its not all worthless, there are some bits of enjoyable stuff here and there but all in all is boring and is hard to watch it full without fast forward it. I found it better than other Asylum movies, this one at least have more action and some blood and gore, but being better that other Asylum movies doesn't make a movie watchable. Movies like Transmorfers are just plain unwatchable. This one gets a 4/10

Death Racers is set in the near future where Govenor Reagan Black (Robert Pike Daniel) has a big problem, in a prison built on a old water treatment plant some bloke (Scott Levy) is threatening to release a poisonous gas called Serin into America's water supply resulting in lots of people's death's. For some reason instead of dropping a bomb on this bloke's head Govenor Black decides to hold a 'Death Race' where four teams of criminals are given the chance to earn their freedom by making it to this bloke now called 'The Reaper' for Death Racer purposes & kill him & therefore saving millions of American lives. The teams are the Severed Head Gang (S.H.G), Homeland Security, Vaginamyte & the Insane Clown Posse (I.C.P.) who all drive silly cars & all try to earn their freedom by killing The Reaper bloke...Directed by Roy Kynrim this is yet another 'Mockbuster' rip-off from those extremely untalented people at The Asylum, an obvious rip-off of Death Race (2008) with only two letters difference in the title Death Racers is easily one of the worst films I have ever seen. Right first off lets talk about the positives aspects of Death Racers, the female team are called Vaginamyte which is a quite amusing & rude play on the word Dynamite. That's it. That's the only good thing about Death Racers since everything else is absolutely terrible from the awful script to the pathetic action. Death Racers tries to be clever with some social satire including Big Brother reality TV style coverage of the Death Racers but it's so badly done & boring as to be a liability & quite frankly it's much worse than the reality TV it's sending up. Then there's the misleading title, anyone would think that death racers is about a race with lots of death involved but the cars that the death racers drive are almost inconsequential to the pot & are only there to tie in with Death Race it's ripping off & to get our criminal character's from 'A' to 'B' where The Reaper is. There is no race, there is no start or finish line & no track, no innocent pedestrians get mowed down & apart from a few rubbishy scenes of the cars driving along they barely feature. To be honest I think a lot of (our) time & (our) pain could have been saved if these guy's were just flown in by helicopter & dropped off where The Reaper was (they clearly knew where he was hiding since the GPS systems in the cars was supposed to take them to him). Death Racers is awful, it's boring, painful to watch, painful to listen to, it has plot holes galore with a terrible twist towards the end that is one of the most dull I've seen in a while, the character's are annoying, the film is made up of random events rather than a coherent story & I really can't stress just how bad Death Racers is, you have been warned. The production values are laughable, the location seems to be some sort of parking lot where these cars 'speed' along going nowhere in particular. The film has this awful cheap video look & colour scheme that just screams cheap, instead of the sky being blue it's white & all the colours are just 'turned down' & muted for want of a better expression. The violence & gore are tame, there's a couple of awful looking decapitations, a severed arm & hand (probably the same prop to save money just cut down!) & not much else. Now I don't live in the US so I didn't realise but apparently the I.P.C. (Insane Clown Posse) are a real hip-hop band & quite frankly they are awful here & I presume that at least some of the terrible soundtrack is down to them. Beside these two insane clown dudes former WCW Champion & professional wrestler Scott Levy makes his film debut here & is terrible. The cars look cheap & the guns & rocket launchers attached look like they are made out of cardboard or something, the Roboman thing also looks terrible & in a poorly shot scene (IE: you barely see anything) dons a large metallic strap-on & anally rapes a woman.Filmed on a budget that probably wouldn't buy a round at my local pub Death Racers looks terrible with rock bottom production values (the Governor's office is decorated with a flag hanging from the ceiling) & an awful cheap shot on video look. The acting if it can even be described as such is awful from all involved.Death Racers is a terrible film from start to finish & is truly awful on every level both conceptually & technically, this is a real chore to sit through. So far the IMDb comments page is littered with one star reviews & heres another, the IMDb User Ratings page says that more people voted Death Racers a lowly one star than all the other ratings put together. Do yourself a really big favour & avoid this at all costs, you have been warned!
