The reason I checked this out was the man who created it (Charlie Brooker) also created Black Mirror, an anthology series I really enjoy, and to be honest, I was kinda disappointed. Now I isn't the worst series I've ever seen, it's actually pretty decent (the I episode being Episode 2) I didn't care about the majority of the characters, the only one I remotely cared about was Kelly. The first episode spent a little too much time on the reality show, to the point where I felt like it was bogged down by it, now while there were a couple sequences that were thrilling, but one of the worst things of the series is whenever there's an action scene (or any intense scenes there is) the camera shakes so much that I'm more distracted than in the edge of my seat (there was even shaky cam when a zombie was just simply in a pool) and the characters didn't receive much development. So overall, if you're looking for a fun, entertaining zombie series, I would say give it a go, but don't expect too much
... View MoreI gave this a chance but after the third episode I was tired of it. I realized that I didn't like or identify with any of the characters. The ones that were incredibly stupid became simply annoying. In the face of horror, much of the dialogue was off-base. They're having nonsensical chats in the middle of hell. In other words, they're not focused completely on their predicament. At least it doesn't show in their attitudes and behaviors. But what was most annoying about it was the constant arguing about everything. Arguing before the apocalypse gets started, arguing as it gets started, arguing constantly as it continues. That's unrealistic. People would be too scared to argue so much in such a predicament. Or do all British people argue constantly and cuss at each other? The British accents and slang left me at odds, also. If you like your characters cussing and yelling at each other and constantly arguing in British accents, then this is the show for you. Me, I'm to watch a movie now where the characters are not so surly and stupid.

Go watch it now.The concept of using a Big Brother setting was a brilliant idea and worked very well. Whether you loved or hated the characters, they were unique and set apart in their personalities, and the acting was fantastic and believable. One of the most amazing things about this was the special effects. I've never seen such realistic movie gore; it's definitely not for the sensitive, because they is a lot of blood, guts, and brains in this movie. The zombies were well-made, too. The makeup and acting was far from any cliché zombie you might've seen before. This was simply wonderful, a movie any true horror fan will love. You won't regret seeing it over and over again.
... View MoreA number of reviewers here have described this as satirical, but it's really not. Yes, the premise as written - reality TV show is interrupted by zombie apocalypse - certainly sounds satirical, but once the zombies show up there are only rare occasions where the Big Brother theme comes up.The first half hour of the show is all set up, detailing the pre- destroyed lives of the protagonists. As with most horror movies, this prologue is pretty tedious; almost as tedious as actually watching an episode of Big Brother.Once the zombies show up though, the Big Brother set is just a place for a handful of survivors. The zombies themselves are very scary, fast-running, ravenous creatures who eat not brains but everything. The movie is effectively creepy and scary. The movie can also be pretty annoying. The worst thing is the character of the director. If this show is going to be called satire, the director is probably where the satire lies; he escapes the zombies by doing something so remarkably despicable that he might as well hold a sign over his head that says "bad guy." But satire or not, he is annoying, particularly towards the end, where he is featured in two of the grossest scenes in the series.Dead Set can get very gory, and since I don't like gore, I sometimes had to look away, particularly towards the end. Some of the gore seemed reasonable considering the subject matter, but other times it felt like someone just said, "ooh, wouldn't it be cool to really gross people out?"There are no real surprises in the story, which follows a typical zombie-movie path. The show is considerably less imaginative than the first season of Walking Dead, and the Big Brother premise seems forced and gimmicky. But the series is effective and fast paced, and overall I enjoyed it.
