Daphne & Velma Trailers

Before their eventual team-up with Scooby and the gang, bright and optimistic Daphne and whip-smart and analytical Velma are both mystery-solving teens who are best friends but have only met online - until now. Daphne has just transferred to Velma's school, Ridge Valley High, an incredible tech-savvy institute with all the latest gadgets provided by the school's benefactor, tech billionaire Tobias Bloom. And while competition is fierce among the students for a coveted internship at Bloom Innovative, Daphne and Velma dig beyond all the gadgets and tech to investigate what is causing some of the brightest students in school to disappear - only to emerge again in a zombie-fied state.

I'm not the demographic for this film about Daphne and Velma, but I'm a long-time Scooby-Doo fan and I was curious. The best word for this film is "innocuous." It is neither particularly bad nor good. This is straight-to-DVD and it has that close-but-not-yet-there quality. The production is cheap, even more so than those two made-for-DVD Scooby-Doo movies from a little under ten years ago. The plot moves briskly and competently, but there's nothing to really draw one in. The dialogue really lags at points and there is some weird use of sound effects and voice overs.Still, you get the feeling that the cast and crew were trying. There are some funny jokes here, including one that is surprisingly and delightfully dark for the film. The setting is bright and colorful and does the best it can with the budget. The cast is mostly decent, especially main actresses Sarah Jeffery and Sarah Gillman, and do better than expected with the dialogue their given. (Still at times they're not miracle workers.) I wish them all luck and greener pastures.Overall, this isn't something I'd necessarily recommend but you can show it to your kids without it probably bugging you. If you have girls, Daphne and Velma also serve as strong role models.

I sat down to watch this movie with my 8 year old son, whom is a big fan of Scooby Doo and the Mystery Gang.Let's just say that he left after about 15 minutes of suffering through the torture method that is known as "Daphne & Velma", while I managed to endure 45 minutes of this garbage.Right, well there was so many things wrong with this.First, the movie was lacking a proper storyline and seemed like director Suzi Yoonessi was given no limitations and just put together a series of random segments here and there. Sarah Jeffery, playing Daphne, looked nothing like the cartoon character in any way, except for their hair color, and it didn't help that she was stumbling through what were supposed to pass as being acting. Sarah Gilman, playing Velma, fared little better in the acting department, but at least they made her look very much like the cartoon character. The characters in the movie were one-dimensional cardboard cut out figures that offered absolutely nothing to the storyline. And they were so irrelevant that you didn't even bother about them in any way."Daphne & Velma" was also hindered by an abysmal set of dialogue. Wow, it was such a pain to listen to.According to the synopsis, then this movie was supposed to take place before the gang all got together to form the Mystery Gang. Right, well plausible enough. But no! Then the movie should be set in the time according to prior to the first Scooby Doo episode, which it clearly was not if you look at all the gadgets and technology in the movie. That was just a downright horrible flaw to the movie. Sure, they attempted to appeal to the audience today, but good luck getting the youngsters to raise their heads from their phones and tablets long enough to get any interest in this derailed movie project. This movie was a swing and an atrocious miss. Not going to bother coming back to this. In fact, I will pretend I never saw those God awful 44 minutes and not let it taint my view on the legacy of Scooby Doo and the Mystery Gang.

When my husband picked this movie up for our daughters who are 9 and 10, I hadn't even heard of it. I thought it would be something that they would probably watch, mildly enjoy and forget about. We put it on while we were all working on legos and before I knew it, they had stopped building completely and were watching it without distraction. I laughed so hard at so many parts of this film and so did my girls. It touches on numerous feminist ideas in very subtle ways like the mother being the girl boss and the dad being a stay at home dad, how one of their biggest fears was that there would never be a female president and that there is NO love interest what so ever for either of the girls. It was refreshing, and unexpectedly really funny. The music and wardrobe was great as well. By the end we were hoping that there would be a follow up in the form of a sequel, tv show or web series. We have owned it for 3 days and its been watched 3 times. This isn't meant for teenagers though- so I'm not sure how old the other reviewers were or what they expected but I and my girls were pleasantly surprised.

When I first heard about this movie I was told the concept was Daphne and Velma pre-mystery Incorporated battling zombies and I thought "awesome! This sounds like Shaun of the dead meets Scooby Doo! That sounds amazing! I am in! " Great concept right? Yeah... only what we actually got was nothing even remotely like that. What we got instead was a disappointing saccharine sweet kid friendly boring vanilla high school crush Disney Channel mess How could you take such an interesting concept and screwed up so badly? This thing is unwatchable. There is literally nothing whatsoever interesting or original about this movie. They turn this into a kids movie that neither kids nor adults are going to want to watch. This is a disappointing mess It's very telling that the only positive review on here is made from a dummy account, that was just created recently, and only has one review which is for this movie. It's pretty bad when even the creators feel the need to post fake reviews and try to boost this thing because they know how poorly it's going to be received. Way to drop the ball This could've been something cool instead you chose to go with...thisWhy did you even bother?
